I've searched the internet, but all I can seem to find is pretty dated information. I need a list of all the FAA-accepted color-vision tests, so that I can inquire about the availability of these specific tests when contacting eye-specialists.

If anyone has a list of the current tests, that would be great. If not, the appropriate number to contact the FAA would be helpful.

Thanks a lot.

I am "borderline" when it comes to color vision.

I went to an eye doctor and took the Ishihara, had the doc write the results on company letterhead and sent that to Oklahoma City. After a few weeks, I received a letter stating that I never have to take another color vision test again, ever. Good for any class of medical too. All I would have to do in the future is present the AME with my letter and thats it.

Beats the crap out of a SODA or waiver.

Yeah, I know what you mean as I'm looking to do exactly that. Funny though, I fail the Ishihara plates, but feel I can otherwise distinguish colors fine.

I see they still list the "Farnsworth Lantern" as an accepted test. Last I heard, the FAA was no longer accepting this. This is getting very frustrating...

No, the farnsworth isn't accepted anymore. Apparently that test was too easy. Although it's good enough for the military (go figure).

Now I am not recommending that anyone do this, but is it possible to buy the Ishihara plate book online. There is only one version and all the answers are the same. Just memorize the 16 or so answers and go to the eye doc for your test.

Or you can go do the light gun test with a FSDO, which can't be failed or you are screwed.

There are alternatives.
