Haven't heard anything lately on the Frontier front. Anything new???

Yeah, anything new????? I still want a job;) Hopefully i will get a shot. So do i know anybody there?!?!?!? How about a Keg of your favorite brew...NOW do i know anybody there:p .

Starchkr, Big Fog from up in Whitefish, Mt - The Great Northern Brewing Company - if you please:)

Nothing new on the hiring front. Our training is down for the summer months since we need as many bodies as possible flying the line, and the Airbus transition is eating up sim slots. We just took delivery of a bunch of Airbi and got rid of some Boeings for a net gain of I think three aircraft. That and the increased utilization is what the mass hiring earlier this year was for.

We are supposed to ramp up hiring again around September in preparation for the next bunch of Bus deliveries. No telling what UAL will do and what our responce will be.

We just announced a bunch of changes to our fall schedule too. DEN-LIT on the RJ, and plans for a bunch of out stations direct to CUN flying. We dropped LAX-MSP and NWA dropped their LAX-DEN in responce. Fall will probably be bloody with fare wars as the legacy carriers add capacity. I think we are looking for markets without competition so as to avoid the blood letting.

Thats about all I know! (and starchkr - I can't seem to get anyone an interview, but we'll have a great time drinking the beer!)

I'd have to agree. The CRJ 700's are way better than the 200's, but those 190's are even more unique!

Frontier Application

Need a wee bit o' guidance . . . OK, maybe a lot :) On the F9 application it has a check for large a/c typed . . . is that over a certain weight for t/o, and if so, what is it please?

Is there anyone out there / here who has gotten an interview without knowing anyone already on property? I know it definitely makes it tougher, but is it totally impossible? Flame guards UP ;)

Thanks in advance and G'Luck all!

Per FAR 1 - Large Aircraft means aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds max certificated takeoff weight.

We've seen a few people on this board go to F9 without knowing anybody there. When I was hired this was unheard of, but now we are looking of a wide cross-section of pilots.

You can't win if you don't play!

Good luck:)

With all the expansion at Frontier, what's the upgrade times looking like these days?

How does the A318 handle vs. the A319? Any noticeable differences? Do they all have the new screens?

The earlier A-319s came with the CRTs. Now all Airbus aircraft are coming with the new screens and the older 319s are being retrofitted.

The 318 seems to be a little bit sportier on pitch control, but the fly-by-wire mitigates most of that, so its really hard to tell the difference once you're strapped in. They are both great to fly.

I distinctly remember filling out the app online, and 3 hours later when I finished, there was a note saying that Frontier required a LOR from someone working there in order to consider the application. After cursing my computer profusely, I dug up an old neighbor that flies for them and commenced grovelling.

When he dropped my stuff off, the word was that they may be done hiring for the year. We'll see.

Hope you did'nt grovel needlessly. Nothing happens to an LOR when dropped off at the office. The online rec. is the only method used. To be certain, an LOR is not required to get an interview. Good Luck.

True. You must list an email address from a F-9 employee so that they can receive an electronic "recommendation form". Make sure you have the F-9 employee fill out the rec form and submit it within 5 days. Also have them send you a copy, so that you know what they said in their recommendation (might help at the interview). This is all part of the initial screening to determine whether you will be offered an interview. The better the recommendation, the better chance for an interview.

Recommendation letters are still very important. They should be brought to the interview and presented with your other required papers. Keep in mind that the Interview Board is most likely comprised of different folks than the initial screeners, so your rec letters will be fresh. I talked to the Fleet Manager in charge of hiring the other day and he said new-hire interviews will resume for September classes after the training dept clears the log-jam. His most important advice was: "Once selected for an interview, the onus falls directly on the applicant to present him/herself as a competent, likable professional pilot with good people skills, someone who will not cause problems and will represent the company as if it were their own." All the work you put into securing an interview will have no bearing on the final selection process. It all boils down to how you do on interview day.

Good luck, its a great place to work.
