My First post should have been incorporated with my second so that is why there is a "Ummmm....What" Gap that makes no sense what so ever. :D Good humor though!! I think I hit "the Enter" key without looking instead of back space or something like that.
 
That was a really good point, in 1993. Or in 1978. Either way, the DL bubbas made this bed for us with RJs, and the DL, UA, US guys practically speaking, cemented it with their abandonment of scope language in the mid 2000s. The AA and US guys didn't do the regional guys any favors with their contractual language (which shafted their wholly-owned airlines, rather than finding common ground with those pilots groups for mutual benefit.)

So, I guess the point I'm making is that this fight has been (barely) fought and lost, a long time ago.

The mainline pilot groups should have been fighting for brand seniority lists, scope language, and minimum contract language a long time ago, but didn't. Why not? Shortsightedness, ego-centrism, and a classic superiority complex are primarily to blame.

So, blaming the other guy isn't very helpful. And, if you haven't noticed, our (the Pilots') union isn't exactly going out of its way to help the junior pilot (Age 65) but rather, is continuing to kow-tow to the senior pilots, even those not affliated with ALPA (see also, TWA) to continue to pursue short-sighted, ego-centric goals, based primarily on the belief that people who fly 737s for a living are intrinsically better than those in a 1900.

Now, while I understand the stress and heartbreak of someone about to lose his job (I've been there, twice) asking someone to all of sudden find religion and dive on his sword, is somewhat disingenious.

A spot-on post, but I want to clarify mine.

I want to know if the business entity that pays them now, that is enabled by action or inaction, that hopefully moves them on to green pastures while unfortunately salting the earth elsewhere...

I want to know how they'd react if the same situation landed in their lap.

I strongly doubt an arm's length dispassionate answer would be the rule 10 years from now.
 
RAH should go out of business this year!

They are just a Scab airline looking to take advantage of others. when they are vulnerable.

Your RAH spokesman , McNugget, has stated his career goal of being a Scab.

I'd rather be unemployeed than be a Republic Scab.

I dont work for RAH. I just have insider info.

Too late...I spent 7 years in aviation, 2 furloughs, 2 unionization drives, and three 3 contract drives before I realized that the light at the end of every tunnel was an on-coming train.

I guess if you hit someone in the head with a hammer long enough, he'll learn that it feels good when it stops.

Quite honestly, the only answer is people voting with their feet. By the time it happens, cabotage will be fact.

And that IS a legitimate question.

But we all know that, short of a Chinese Reeducation Camp, no 23 recent Aviation College graduate is even going to HEAR your question, let alone have the consequences of the answer color their decision-making.

The Colleges tell them that all their graduates are above average, and with idea that someday, after they get 1000 TPIC, they will magically transported to MEM for a pro forma interview and 10 Million dollar career working for Fred Smith.

That isn't reality.

In the specific case of RAH and Brian Bedford, its not that BB is particularly smart (anyone whose read or heard one of his religiously laden missives can testify to that) but RAH, through Wexford, is incredibly, unspeakably well-financed. Money makes the mare go, especially in aviation, where most of the short-term thinking by all parties is driven ultimately by lack of capital.

I haven't come up with many solutions for you. I'm not that smart. Sorry.

No worries, friend! In my new economic stimulus plan, there will be jobs for everybody. The lower-paid pilots at RAH will get the opportunity to do all of the Midwest flying, backed by taxpayer stimulus funds. The former, overpaid pilots will have the opportunity to move into newly-created jobs, such as Lavatory Service Technician (E-170 rating) and Regional Jet Catering Specialist (F/A's Beotch, 3rd Class).

Shoot, if you're a minority and have no prior experience, we have a job for you, as a Supervisor. You'll even get a clipboard! Who Da Man, now, dawg?
