I'd also suggest the library. My H.S. and town library had lots of books on careers too. There will be lots of books on becoming a pilot and you can get a glimpse into what different pilot careers offer. Perhaps books that talk about where and how to pick flight schools/instructors would be useful also. You can then ask questions on boards like this. Just remember not to believe everything you read!

If I were you, I'd hold off on the AIM until you are a little closer to starting flight lessons. I can think of better ways to spend my senior year.

I took my first flight in NJ when I was 17; one of those introductory flights. It was a birthday present from mom - she wanted me to make sure I really wanted to fly before I went off to college and joined ROTC in pursuit of a flight slot. Not a bad idea if you haven't flown anything but coach before.
