Does anyone have any new information on ExpressJet hiring. I got a call 3 weeks ago on may 18th to fax my resume in, and havent heard any thing from them. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or if anyone has gotten the interview phone call since then. From what I understand they are hiring. Maybe their just backed up right now. Anyway any knowledge is appreciated.

I just talked to someone I know whose highly ranked in the training department over at Xjet. Basically according to this person, if you don’t get the denial letter that is a good thing.
I‘m currently in the predicament, I guess we're just suppose to be patient.

I was called for a May interview and couldn't make it as it was on short notice. I wouldn't sweat it, you might get the call for a June interview.

Don't get them. They hire a bunch of 500 hour heros but tell me I don't have the qualifications? I had a request for my resume and them got an email from them. Their loss.

I heard competitive mins are 2500 TT and prior 121 or 135 exp. They are starting to get VERY selective as hiring will be slowing late this year.....

Good Luck to all..

lkmlo, I would comfirm receipt of your fax, fax it in again to show your interest..

The lowest mins were back in the fall and early winter, and that was 600/100. Most of the folks hired with that kind of time were internal applicants. The average new hire even back in the fall when the hiring spree was going on still had just as much time as you do.

Hiring 64 in June, 32 per month the rest of the year.

As for the 121/135 experience, I think the company is tired of hearing the complaints from CAs who wet their pants on short final...

It's not necessarily the 121/135 exp. that will help but some good jet time would probably help. These swept wing airplanes don't handle like C172s...

FWIW...:D ;)

Seems like you only get one shot with the online app. I filled it out at work but did not have a current electronic copy of my resume. Got an email the next morning stating they reviewed my app but I did not meet the requirements and they would keep my file so I could be considered for other jobs. Well obviously I didn't meet the requirements, because I didn't attach a resume! I called and after getting the whole speel from the friendly person on the other end of the phone, I explained the situation (how I wanted to be 100% accurate and I didn't know they worked so fast) and got them to "un-lock" my file so I could attach my fresh, current resume. That was 4 weeks ago, still no call or email other than the initial "thanks but not thanks" before the updated resume was submitted.

I currently work for XJET and have tried giving reccomendations to a few of my old instructing buddies with 800-1000 hrs.....the Chief Pilot emailed me back and told me they were not competitive without 135 or 121 experience.

Seems a little goofy, they hired me without prior 135 or 121, but like someone else said, they're getting more selective. From the chief pilot's voicemail last week, they will be hiring 64 pilots in july, and 32 pilots for every month the rest of the year after that.

I heard the samething from a friend of mine that works for XJet also, about the 121/135 experince and hiring.

All you can do is try!!!
If you go into the thing expecting to be given the job without passing "go" then you may be dissapointed. If an 800 hour guy walks and is humble and eager to work for us, the hiring dept sees that...now if we get a 1500 hr guy with a bit too much confidence and a logbook in dissaray...then the hiring dept sees that too.

I know of a few guys who were shot down from the git-go because they had logbook times that did not add up...like ASEL + AMEL di not equal TOT..etc...

simple stuff guys can get ya!

I was thinking about walking a friends resume in. Does the company accept resumes walked in to the CP be a current pilot or does everybody have to go thru PeopleScout?

ILS: Emailing the sr. director of flt ops is the preferred way to make reccomendations. This was mentioned in one of his weekly voicemails a few weeks back. He's actually very quick to respond to emails. Be sure to include a copy of their resume and their application reference number if they have one.

I am an F/O with Express as well and I heard the same thing from my chief pilot. The hiring is going to slow from 64 a month to 32 a month. The problem is that CAL is being "wishy washy" on exactly how many pilots they are going to bring over to mainline.

How long does it take to get Cleveland?

How long is the call on Reserve?

Where do rainbows end?????????

Thought I would share my very limited experience. "A friend of mine" interviewed a couple of weeks ago. Ten people showed up and from my best estimate only four were hired. Of those four hired three had military experience, one had a lot of 135 time one had 121 time and one was your standard CFI type. Those that did not get hired had some good experience as well. Three had 121 time and at least two had 135 time. One guy with a ton of flight time was sent home due to logbook problems. What does all this mean to those looking to get hired at XJT? As others have stated, it is getting more competitive. The 1200 hour guy/gal still has a chance, evident from the gentleman hired a couple of weeks ago. If you are given a interview date, TAKE IT!!! A former co-worker had a date, but tried to reschedule a few days prior. AB was not happy and this person will likely not get another chance. Like I said earlier, this is just from my limited experience within the past month.

Good Luck to All!
Chicken

Oh Yeah, TiredofTeaching, you should relaxe dude! You may actually be a better pilot than the military guy with 121 experience but on paper you just arn't as competitive. 1200hrs should get you a ton of interviews right now. Go fly elsewhere for a while then re-apply but don't get pissed.

Used to work there and my buddies tell me the guys they are hiring now are having trouble passing IOE. Got so bad they had to institute a policy that if you can't pass IOE in 80 hours...yes 80, they give you the pat on the back, nice try kid, thanks for playing....80 freakin' hours of IOE....unreal

Yep, full of crap. I finished it in the scheduled 25 hrs (as did most of the 31 in my class) and I was an 800 hr wonderkid. If I can do it anyone with at least one functioning arm can. The WSCoD isn't hard to fly.

You can get it strait out of training. Everyone in my class who wanted Cleveland got it.

Everyone in my class finished IOE right at 25 hours no problems. I call BS on the My friend told me 80 hours of IOE.
