idiot? scum? wow! such an impressive vocabulary! i wasn't ripping anyone for doing anything. if you would kindly read my post again (i know, two sentences really put your reading/comprehension skills to the test), you'll see that all i'm asking is that the comair guys stop the chest thumping. i'll gladly listen to their fa's engage in it...got it idiot?

I thought the f'ing taco thing was funny. This CRJ thing....tip of the iceberg....I don't think it's gonna be just 24 of them either....

So your saying that you guys are somehow going to take all of XJT's flying? You CHQ guys amaze me. A bunch of guys with SJS sitting around licking themselves.

This is just a stab in the dark, but I think he is talking about Delta not CO flying. Hard to believe that everyone doesn't spend their time thinking of ways to screw you...no?

You're asking them to quit chest thumping? Seemed to me you told them to STFU and that they had no balls... Comair guys have every right to be pissed. They stood up to mngmt once, then watched as the pilots groups at companies like yours undermine everything they had work for. You sir are in no position to tell them to grow a sack.

Oh and about the vocab. Just trying to talk in terms you might understand.

Is one of you trying to win this argument?

From what I understand the CRJ is a sure thing...

As far as payscales, QOL (whatev' that means)..its coming down at the regionals too. It was just a matter of time. COST. The Majors/Legacies went thru it, now its our turn.

Nobody should be surprised, Probably in a couple years RAH will be in the same predicatement as Comair and XJT are in now. Same as the Majors post 9/11. Who went first with paycuts was it USAir?

This thread is the best argument I've ever seen for raising ATP minimum age to about 40. The people who are screwing you are not fellow line pilots. As long as there are kids who think airplanes are cool and whose parents have some money, there will be plenty of pilots willing to work for what you consider sub-standard pay/work rules, whatever. Wailing in impotent fury about it does no one any good. Neither does talking smack about how you're going to deny the jumpseat or throwing around the "s" word where it clearly doesn't apply. If you want to improve "the profession" (as though anyone is so altruisticly motivated), know your contract, fly it, vote for labor-friendly candidates, write your congressman when agreements are circumvented by management-friendly judicial appointees, and ORGANIZE. And when the chips are down and it's not just criticizing the other guy, have the intestinal fortitude to vote "no". See Mesaba and PSA for examples of this.

Well said.

Word going around CAL is that they are realizing that the CHQ deal isn't such a good dea. They plan to increase more CAL flying and therefore won't have a need to replace all 69 RJ's.

Word going around this board is that your full of ********************

Well Greg, he may be full of feces, but if I were a betting man, my money would go on you and your crew not getting any ERJs outta me and my crew. Stand by for a hat trick. Shake... out.

Well, yes and no. The CHQ deal is probably very good for CAL and maybe not so good for CHQ considering the margin the contract was probably signed for. However some of your post is already dated as CAL is only replacing 44 jets of 69 removed from the CPA. So in fact they are reducing their 50 seat lift and will probably continue to do so in the future.

CHQ's code with CAL is about as secure as XJT's is/was. With no CAL scope relief in sight and a predicted reduction in 50 seat lift block hours you can see where this all goes long term...............CHQ has been chosen to supply some of the reduced XJT block hrs, however CAL is reducing its overall demand for this type of flying and there is no reason to think this trend will not continue. I predict further reductions in XJT flying with no corresponding increase in CHQ flying until there are only a hundred or so 50 seat a/c in market. I give it ..............3 yrs...................

Discuss.........

As for XJT, the guys running the show are not stupid or new to the business. I think they see things the way Boyd sees them and will look elsewhere. Keeping the hardware was a good decision even if it is farmed out in another country. Leasing those aircraft will be a cash positive transaction and surrendering them is well....not cash positive.

ATRCA,

Nice calls. I'd have to agree with you except for the fact that CAL is hurting for lift right now. They need airplanes they just don't have. While their 737NG's are being built, they will still have to rely heavily on the ERJ. We have been told of block hour increases in JAN & FEB '07 that are well above past levels. Go figure.

The CHQ deal is probably very good for CAL

The first time IAH goes into SWAP will be the true test. The flexibility of remanning flights and e-subbing and reassign crews quickly was an operational advantage.

The re-crewing thing aside due to having two pilot groups, if the CRJ thing is true, there will probably be a higher number of cancellations due to the inability to e-sub as efficiently.

I dont think CHQ will do SWAP like we do at XJT, they probably wont do it at all, I dont know and they probably dont either. I don't think it is a Continental/COEX thing, I think its just an XJT thing, can anybody confirm this? So who cares if we go into SWAP, the show will go on for us with minimal cancellations and CHQ, without SWAP, well we can guess how that will go.

CAL already announced that CHQ would only fly 44 jets for them. So cal will go from a total fleet of 274 RJ's to 249 RJ's. This whole thing was a ploy to reduce the number of 50 seaters in the fleet and not have to find homes or pay lease payments on airplanes. They effectively parked them at XJT and put that burden on them and then filled in what they needed on a shorter term contract with CHQ. If they feel then need even less 50-seat jets in the next three years, they will come out of the 44 that CHQ is flying and not XJT. XJT cannot lose more airplanes at CAL until Jan 2010. XJT will send the first 25 planes they lost to Mexico. The next 5-10 will be used for charters. That gives XJT until around April to find something for the rest of them. Most of us at XJT aren't too worried about this issue.

That is exactly correct. All the hype regarding XJT being "TOO expensive" was just propaganda for the CAL employess and the sheep like media.

It is my belief that CAL wants to reduce it's 50 seat RJ fleet further and will use the CPA time clause and the new contracts with other carriers in order to achieve this goal.
