14 out of 16 in the class before mine went to cle, and my whole class went to cle,,, but sounds like things are shifting back to ewr for new hires,,,,, and it doesnt help that they are reducing lines in cle and increasing elsewhere

Metro, I like you avatar so much, I'm take some time to reply!!

I think the initial base rewards are as random as the weather on that particular day. The numbers change daily and the classes and hubs are manned appropriately. If someone tells you otherwise, they are incorrect.

That being said, you should have no trouble finding your way into the CLE system with 4-6 months of hire. If a class of 20 is put in CLE, 19 of them leave at the first chance they get. The bad news is that the hub in CLE has been and will continue to shrink (in terms of lines). The odds of you holding a line anytime in the next few years is minimal at this point. Something to think about.

Good luck.

FWIW..........I just talked to a new hire pilot yesterday who said he was only on reserve in CLE for 6 weeks before holding a relief line. Like someone said above, of the 20 that get CLE out of training, 19 leave on the first bid out. So there is some movement at the bottom of the FO side.

CLE isn't shrinking, it's just not growing with the rest of the company which makes it look like it's shrinking.

no just gatherin info, since I'm in IL, and always heard EWR was where most guys went out of training, sooo wondering if nearby CLE ever was assigned. :D

CLE is shrinking. They should be down to around 80 lines by fall. They are not replacing pilots as they leave for upgrade or to other airlines. If you do get CLE with a base trade or such it will be a very very long time on reserve. Years possibly

You are correct in terms of number of flights/block hours to a certain extent. All that matters to a crewmember is the number of lines and when one will be available. In that case, CLE is indeed shrinking.
