CEO silly sap said:when are you guys going to merge?
and how do you merge two different unions?>
Let's just say there were two pilot groups represented by oh.... the TEAMSTERS and ALPA or uh, whatever unions were involved.CEO silly sap said:how do you merge two different unions?

YesCEO silly sap said:Did CALMEC do a split ?
Are you for real or are you just "instigating"?Instigator said:
It happened last week. It has been discussed for several years now, ever since CAL decided to morph Continental Express into ExpressJet Airlines. There are lots of reasons for the split, but it seems like the straw that broke the camel's back was the fact that several MEC reps from Continental said they would not vote in favor for authorizing a strike at ExpressJet. Also, there were several other disadvantages of the combined union, one being that ExpressJet was not represented at ALPA National with an Executive Vice President.Originally posted by Surplus1...
If the XJT and CAL MEC's "split", when did it happen? Why did it happen?

I feel a new flight bag sticker comming on.Capt. Caucasian said:SCAB free MEC!
Capt. Caucasian,Capt. Caucasian said:It should be noted that those CAL Reps that said this are SCABs. They are the CA and FO Reps of IAH LEC171, both of whom were hired during 1983 and vigorously oposed the merger with ALPA. The Reps from Guam joined them in their feud.
We had a very much support from the EWR and CLE LECs it is just that they were beaten down on by the IAH guys for so long. The SCABs threaten them with any kind of politcal action that they could think of all the way to personal legal action and threatening physical harm to other Rep's children. I was there and I heard it.
SCAB free MEC!
Wow... This guy knows what happened...Capt. Caucasian said:It should be noted that those CAL Reps that said this are SCABs. They are the CA and FO Reps of IAH LEC171, both of whom were hired during 1983 and vigorously oposed the merger with ALPA. The Reps from Guam joined them in their feud.
I agree, but disagree. ALPA is the best show in town, even for a regional. Better than Teamsters, IMHO. Now, I agree that they need to do a better job representing the small jet carriers. I do not believe a poorly funded (it would be) "regional airline union" could take on ALPA and win.InclusiveScope said:Many of us warned you when you joined ALPA that this was a mistake. You didn't listen and it seems you still refuse to accept the reality that the mainline interests are opposed to the regional interests.

You didn't listen and it seems you still refuse to accept the reality that the mainline interests are opposed to the regional interests. ALPA national will back the interests of the mainline pilots even if it comes at the expense of the regional pilots. I would encourage the XJT pilots to not look back and to move forward as a SEPARATE pilot group. Do not support the mainline pilots attempt to limit your careers. You have now joined a large group of regional pilots that attempted over the years to work with the mainline pilots only to realize that it doesn't work.
DAL/ASA,CMR
AA/Eagle
USAirways/ALG,PDT,PSA
United/ACA,AirWisc.
... have all come to this realization over time.
I suspect the NWA/Pinnacle,Mesaba group is next.... we shall see.

Anyone interested can email RJDC at:AviatorTx said:be) "regional airline union" could take on ALPA and win.
How do we now get the RJDC to start courting our new MEC??? I actually think it might be time.
Piss on the SCABS!!!!

Capt. Caucasian said:Anywho, I still don't think the RJDC applies at all to us. CAL pilots have got their collective heads up their collective a s s e s so far that I think they will start paying management to fly, because they saved the company before. Right? (note extreme sarcasm)Frats,
