How often is Express Jet runing classes, do they plan on hiring into 2005. Is it posible to interview now and get a class date after the first of the year

rumors are floating around of 600 + new hires next year. Remember senoirity is everything. I left the feeders to come here over 6 years ago. Good luck.

I'd probably bet that if you interviewed today, they would want you in class about 1 to 3 weeks later. That is, unless you have military commitments to fulfill. After my interview, I was in class six days later. I took the gamble and let my employer know where I stood in regards to the interview process before any offer, to ensure they had the minimum two weeks notice.

I know someone who started class this week, 13 days after his interview. It's going quickly for folks.

It looks like people are starting class in less than two weeks after being hired. I would talk to your current employer and let then now you might not be able to give two weeks if hired. I just gave my employer a heads up, and they said they would have no problem as long as I let them know ASAP.

Hows the training coming along?

No more interviews for the next 2 weeks from what I heard. Then they will start again as soon as the holidays are over. Rumor is class of 32 each week beginning Jan 3 through at least March. Not sure how many of those are filled. I have met several people that did have later class dates and were moved up for one reason or another.

I interviewed on NOv. 22., was hired and given the Feb 6 class. Then they moved me up to the Jan. 17 class. Wasn't given a reason for the move, but it's fine with me.

I heard they plan on hiring about 600 in 2005. The start dates are all over the place. I was first told that my class date would be Feb. 7th but got a call later to tell me that it's been moved upto Jan. 3rd. The biggest thing is get your resume in and see what you're given.

I was told no that there wont be any phone calls until the second week of Jan. Classes all filled up to the Feb. 7th. They are supposed to start up full speed again in Jan. Hope thats what happens.

Thanks for the information, I was wondering if that will happen.

not a problem. When did you apply?

I just received a voicemail from Dawn at ExpressJet. It was in regards to an interview. Does anyone know what is to be expected on a initial call?

If it's the intial call after you faxed in your resume, then it's basically a phone interview before they invite you down to Houston for the interview. They'll ask you basic info. stuff. Questions on what your flying, especially twins, FARs, scenerios, maybe a systems question here and there, etc. They can ask something like explain Vmc and the factors affecting Vmc? what do you do when you lose sight of runway on a circling approach? max speeds in various airspaces? when do you need an alternate? etc...questions in that nature. just be prepared to answer anything and everything. study and you'll do fine. Good luck.

When I got the call, she asked me a few questions regarding recent flying experience, have I ever been in a accident, and questions similar to that. Then she asked me what is the definition of the TDZE, what weather minimum dictates the ILS critical hold area, and where is the missed approach point on the ILS. After a 5 minute phone call I was offered a interview the following week.

Sounds good. I will do that. Yeah I got hooked on Xbox live for a while. It sucks getting wooped up on by teenagers though. Good luck man. get some studying in.

How is it that they are hiring so many pilots?? Are they getting a lot of new aircraft or are people just moving along to bigger and better things?? That just seems like a large amount to hire........

The reason for all of the hiring is twofold. First, all of the recalls going back to CAL, as well as the 113 that were given offers of employment pre 911. Second, I think we are scheduled to recieve around 20 aircraft this year. I would say we will need around 2600 pilots by the end of this next year. I'm currently about 1950 on the list. I was hired in Feb 04.

Yea, she asked me whether I had any checkride busts. Be honest. Asked how much multi I've had in the past six months. Then she asked holding speeds, when an alternates needed, and oxygen requirements. That was it. Review the Instrument oral exam guide a bit and then call her back. Good Luck

Correction I went back and checked I applied Nov. 5th. Still waiting. I was told they are going to start calling again the second week of Jan. Which would be next week. We shall see. Good Luck to all

Anyone know what their hiring mins are right now?

I've looked all over their website and haven't been able to find anything about it.

Thanks.

As a side note straight from Martini Dawn, buying an airplane and flying it around to build time up isn't going to get you the interview let alone the job. A good friend of mine who is a current Skywest gate agent LAX has 900TT, 200+ multi-, was recently told that you need to be "currently" employed as a "pilot" within the industry such as a CFI, 135, etc. Don't know how true this is but it would make sense. He is kicking himself and now has a plane he needs to sell, ooops!.

good luck,
