I'm really interested in Express Jet.
Can someone please offer up some info on:

1. What the travel benefits are like (nonrev, family & friend passes)? Do you pay for them or are they free?

2. Rate the online commute (good, bad, ugly)

3. Rate the offline commute (do it all the time no prob, hit & miss, don't even think about it)

4. Anything about QOL that is great or horrible?

5. Are the ONT or LAX bases junior?

6. Uniform guidelines?

7. Vacation time? How often do you guys/gals bid?

Thanks so much! :)

1. for now, they are CAL benefits... so the easy version is: you, your parents, spouse or any companion if you are not married, and kids travel domestically $10 each way. Internationally, depends where you go, but central america $30, europe $50. get "vacation passes" which waive the free, and give you first class, if it is open. good luck domestic, pretty hard to get it, but internationally, it's great.... first class on a 10 hour flight is great. get "buddy passes" for non family... $50 each way domestic. that is the watered down version.

for our own flights... TBD....

for delta... TBD.....

2. just depends from where you are commuting. too many factors. the load factors are high, 75-80%. newark has it's typical delays. i haven't commuted on us, but proably 70% of the times i've caught a ride on us, i've been sitting in the JS.

4. you can turn a week of vacation into about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks off pretty easy.

ONT and LAX are very jr.

Already been stated, but there is a charge for them.

2. Rate the online commute (good, bad, ugly)
Not too bad. Plan ahead, of course. We have priority on our jumpseat for XJT flights (meaning a senior CAL guy cannot bump you off the jumpseat on an XJT aircraft). It all depends on where you're coming from. I commute out of SNA (one of the more difficult in the system) and it hasn't been too bad. Getting home can be interesting, though.

3. Rate the offline commute (do it all the time no prob, hit & miss, don't even think about it)
Going to the west coast, I've had to 2-leg through PHX on USAmericaWestways, but I've never had a problem doing that. We're CASS, so it's fairly simple, as long as the system is working. We haven't had any big outages in a while.

4. Anything about QOL that is great or horrible?
I think the QOL is pretty good right now and I'm a commuter. Our contract is pretty darn good. Work rules are excellent for our segment of the industry. That being said, your mileage may vary.

5. Are the ONT or LAX bases junior?
ONT and LAX are very junior in both seats.

6. Uniform guidelines?
Not sure what you're getting at, but it's the standard uniform. Hats are optional as are blazers (Management has stated that if you want to wear short sleaves in YHZ in the middle of Feburary, be their guest). We also have a leather jacket option. You pay the initial cost of all uniforms (payroll deduct). You get a uniform reimbursement of $150 a year to replace items. They can be used for shoes, shirts, pants, whatever.

7. Vacation time? How often do you guys/gals bid?
After your first year, it's 2 weeks per year. I can't remember when it goes to 3 weeks. Vaction is bid over a 4-stage process in the Fall. There are 4 bids. You bid one week per bid (unless you want to use your 2 weeks back to back). If you miss the first one, you bid in the next one for what's left. It's never a good idea to miss the vacation bid. In a vacation month, any trips that touch your vacation are dropped. It's a pretty good system.

Thanks so much! :)

Hope this helps. Ask away if you have any other questions.

With ONT and LAX being junior it just goes to show what kind of company XJT is. People move to the bases and put down roots.

Good to hear Georgey runs a good show down there...
