Uh oh!!!!! You are not currently furloughed? You blew it.

Agreed. Guys have been sent home from an XJT interview for alot less that this. But look at it this way, at least now you won't have to worry about moving to Houston. Or Newark. Or Cleveland.

The liquor store is still not a bad idea though.

Well, I talked to Dawn and she asked were I work, how many hours I have etc. I told her that I am on a trip at the beginning of the month and won't be able to make the interview untill the end of the month. She offered me a date toward the end of the month. She knows I'm currently flying 121 and may be out of a job soon. There was a box that asks what airline you work for and another that asks: "Airline from which you are or will be furloughed". I answered it to my best knowledge. My company just layed off 4 pilots and I am 6 from the bottom............Have I made myself a bit clearer here guys? Take Care. :)

ILS,

I'm just being a Fargin Dooshbahg. It's all I know. So, take nothing I say too seriously. Except,

Have a good time, be yourself, and good luck.

Alrighty then. ;) I really hope to be part of the team shortly! I'm just thrilled to be given the opportunity to interview! Take Care.

I understand and respect the alpa agreement for the indy guys but I did not realize they were giving priority to individuals of any company that are in danger of being layed off. Ouch! that stings a little for the people waiting through the normal application process. I hope they resume that calling as well.

Don't quote me as the source. I believe they are still going through the normal process as well. If you cann the HR office the recording says that they are processing applications from Octoboer at this time and a 4 month wait is anticipated for a new applicant.

Is it true that XJET increased the IOE time? A Captain said as much when I hitched a ride last week, jus' wundering....

Jobeer

IOE was still 25 hrs minimum when I did it in Dec.

They gave me a 2 day and a 4 day which ended up being about 30 hrs with the line check on the last day.

FAA min is 25 hours, company is 30 hours which can be extended to 40 hours. After 40 hours an evaluation by a senior check airman is required.

I heard from the training dept. that anyone on property by Dec.1/04 is looking at less than 2yr. upgrade and that not to many of the 600hr guys are making it through training.

The capt I talked to when I JS said he heard some guys were taking up to 80 hours for IOE. *SPOILER*It is probabaly just some random in house rumor tho, so take it with a grain of salt.

January 2004 will hold captain in less a year from now?

This may hold true. Right now it looks like anyone hired prior to about mid-April of 2004 may hold captain by the end of this year or a bit sooner. This is all subject to change depending on the current situation.

I can't hardly belive that this is true. I can't believe that people could pass the sim check and still not be able to cope with airline flying in 80 hours.

Thats why I said take it with a grain of salt. Not ment to inflame or pi$$ anyone off just passing on a rumor that an Xjet capt told me.

Guys I talk to in EWR are telling me about guys that are washing out. It seems every new class has at least 1 or 2 or 3 etc.... that are washing out. That would be awsome if Jan 04 will upgrade this year. It means their is hope for the rest of us.

Yes, the February 2004 new hires (our first new hires since 9/11) will be captains in under 2 years.

Truely a sweet deal! Does this mean maybe 3-4 years for everybody else?

What are the chances of Xjt ordering the 170?

Also, I'm interviewing with under 1000TT in a few weeks. Almost all of my multi is 121 turbine. Do I have any chances of still getting hired without the 1000tt but with about 500ME?

Bull$hit!

It would be nice if we had some verified numbers on this. Everyone (17) in my class made it through and all but one in the class prior made it as well...

Did you have any guys with 600TT do that as well? Any actually take 80 hours of IOE?

I think if it one guy ends up taking more than the alloted time for IOE it turns into all the new hires with low time are this way. I don't think this is a commen practice but has indeed happened at least once that I know of.

A couple things: First, I do know some people took more than the alloted 25 hours for OE. Some up to 50 or 60 hours. But, they weren't low time necessarily. Some had upwards of 2000 hours. For many people, this flying is different than their previous. Regardless of hours, it's new. Jets fly different than props.

As for people busting training, I was told the reasoning for my delay in base advancement was due to "people not showing up for training and people having trouble in training." Take that as you will.

If there was an easy way to find out how many FOs were above me on the list, I'd have a better idea about time to upgrade at the current upgrade rate.

1. Who knows. Never can tell.

2. Little chance at this point in time.

3. They wouldn't be interviewing you if they thought your time was low. Your time is out the window now. They are interviewing you for your knowledge and personality.

Well, I can say that no one in my class of 31 washed out. Some people took longer than others but we all made it. The first of us finished IOE in mid december and the last of us finished in late january.

When did you get hired? I know for a "Fact" that some of these guys have been RATing over and over again and are getting the boot.

Neal,

Thanks for our reply. I'm going to try to do my best in the interview.

So Neal, any predictions on when those of us hired in Feb 04 may upgrade? I think I'm afraid of that side of the plane, maybe I'll just stay in my warm, fuzzy right seat......

box

As somebody about three classes below you on the seniority list, I highly recommend you take your own advice. ;)

As a matter of fact, I think I may soon hold "Realizing your hidden potential outside of aviation" seminars. Tuition will be free for anybody above me on the seniority list.

"Why yes, I think you'd be much happier working full-time in the: (insert whatever hobby you chose here.) field."

All joking aside, a word of encouragement to those of you involved in the application process: Don't worry about low-time vs. high-time, or whether or not you'll get called because of a furloghed Indy guy/gal. Just keep preparing for the interview, bring your best game, and let US decide whether or not you're a good fit. Express Jet is a great place to work. I've been here nine months now, and am still having a blast. The culture is excellent, the Embraers are in great shape, and there's a good variety of fun flying. More than anything though, I've been impressed by the people working here, on the whole they really are an extraordinary group.

Remember Boxjockey, keep bidding warm fuzzy right seat...
