Avbug that sounds quick and dirty but you wouldn't believe the mess it has caused in our company. We had a pilot insist that it defines the diffrence in operation between a two man crew(8.0 hours) and three man crew(12.0 hours with maximum flight deck duty of 8.0 hours per pilot). The pilots claimed that if they flew X amount of hours for the month as a 2 man crew then they could not fly as part of a three man crew as the regulations define the type of operation that a pilot is involved in. What it comes down it is that we would have to have designated three man crews and designated two man crews for the month. We would have to hire a heap load more of pilots which would hurt all of us that survive on overtime and day off pay. It has gone all the way to the top and could change supplemental ops as we know it today. Of course it would provide more jobs for people on this board but at a pay rate I would be embarrassed to tell.

Fantastic Book!

How many of you guys have this book? I just recieved it and while it is a little underline and bold happy I do consider it a great book. Some of the information is duplicated which at first I thought wasn't a good idea but then I realized that a lot of new pilots might just look under a certain subject so something important relating to more than one thing should be located in more than one place.

Anywho I've just been reading through it, I'm about half way (skipping all the IFR related material at the moment), and I have to say I give this book two thumbs up. Very in depth with great rules of thumb as well as the resources he uses to find his information for every topic. Great refresher for those that haven't studied up in a while. Anyone else have any say so's about this book? I did a search and didn't find it mentioned and I think it's a shame such a good book and huge effort on the authors part should go unnoticed. He even puts his cell phone in there in case you have any questions! Never had anyone do that before. I highly recommend it

Great book. Very informative, tons of info with references in case you want too easily check it. He puts it out there straight and it is funny/sarcastic. Not things I can say about other books that are about the same subject. Great book for everything from interview prep to a refresher or a rating.-kingaira90

This is nice for just new pilots?

Is a new pilot someone who has less than 300 hours?

New pilot=Someone who has just recieved their rating or is studying for a rating. It hits many subject area's so it's a good flip though for those with many hours as well.
