Anyone have any info on Evergreen? i have an interview on December 9th. I don't know a thing about them. Also if anyone knows an Evergreen pilot named Nate Alm please PM me. He is a B747 FO. We instructed to gether about a hundred years ago. Thanx.

I think they have a 747 crew base in JFK, and do quite a bit of ANC and then Far East stuff like Hong Kong. They also have a facility in AZ I believe that has been reconfiguring 747s for aerial fire fighting. (No joke) They would load up the 747s with fire retardant, and then drop it over large ground fires. They also have DC-9s that fly a route each night from SEA (BFI) to PDX, SFO, LAX, SLC, and onto DEN I believe. The 747 dropping fire retardant sounds fun. Good luck.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I did 3 years with Evergreen and enjoyed it.

They pulled me out of a DC-3 and into a DC-8 right seat job.

Good training, good life if ya are a single guy...

Guess it was a better place to work before they started hireing scabs in 1991..

Not a "clean" place to work after that..In my humble opinion..

Kinda curious....If you didn't know much about Evergreen to begin with, why did you even bother sending them a resume? Phxflyr:cool:

Good luck with your interview

I have an interview with Evergreen on the same day. I'll see you there. Any idea how many positions they are hiring?

I have one on the same day aswell! I know they are short crews and the class is jan 3. Pretty fast for a class date......they are only doing interviews for three days.....see ya there!

A class start date of 3 January IS fast. I know they are also doing interviews this week Tuesday through Thursday.

And as for what they do...some pretty interesting flying in some pretty interesting places. It won't be a boring job.

I enjoyed flying the 9s' for them from 1998-2000. A very tightly knit, great bunch of guys (there were only 2 gals in the entire company).
I don't know anything about the scabs the above poster mentioned, I guess everyone does penance somewhere. Evergreen has a very interesting history and job security is assured as they have been making money hand over fist for as long as I can rememberd.
I recommend (oh-oh) that if you like fewer legs and seeing the world,
don't mind being away for 2-3 weeks at a time...the 747. Evergreen has always provided them with excellent cuisine and accomidations.
If you like being home more often, but for shorter periods, the domestic dc9 routes may suit your lifestyle better.
Lastly, if you love passengers as much as flying...this may not be for you as cargo is a very isolated world.
Do a little home work on the company for the interview, these guys are straight shooters and are proud of their company.

When I was there, I flew with several scabs on the 747. Del likes hiring them because they have no where else to go.

The training was excellent. The flying was never boring or routine. I was gone a lot though. 18 day lines when I was there. I also got fat eating all the time and drinking beer on the RONs.

Evergreen will be around for some time and you will not regret your time there. I don't. I also don't miss being gone for the better part of a month.

Crashpad,

Evergreen has a very interesting history and job security is assured as they have been making money hand over fist for as long as I can rememberd.

This is a funny comment about the job security! Is there really such a thing?

If you never flew a B747 before or been around the world go for it you'll have a blast!

I just quit (along with around 9 others in the last 8 months...hence the hiring) after being furloughed twice in the last two years by them. They have an unfortunate policy of furloughing at least once a year now-a-days. Sometimes more. Very unstable. Great place to work if you can handle the extreme instablity and constant furloughs. It will also open up a lot of doors to fly the 747 for other companies.

They fly 99% military contracts, so you get to see A LOT of things most people will never see. 'Nuff said on that.

Good luck in MinnyVille at the interview...it is a non-event.
