EK is short of pilots, and it will be getting a lot worse, as the pilot shortage progresses. I think they will have to have pilot bases outside of DXB to keep all their future planes flying.

I don't really think so, since they open the window for DEC's, they have been getting plenty of resumes from qualified pilots. It is very unlikely they will open bases abroad

Disagree. EK is not short pilots....if they were, they would have given a bonus for this year to attract more qualified people in addition to opening the DEC window.

No Bonus for this year....a raise is yet to be seen. There is still a steady stream of guys from failing carriers around the world and carriers like Ryanair who are feeding the need.

Varmint, short of pilots yes, applicants no

Both correct, the applicant pool is the heaviest it's been for a long time and we are short of Boeing Captains due training bursting at the seems.

EK are receiving not only a lot of apps from peripheral EU airlines (we've cleaned out FR)...the likes of TAP, LOT, SNBru, Olympic, Etc...along with the constant trickle from US, SA, UK & Oz/NZ.

They will never open basings due exposure to western labor laws.

Plenty of people happy here, some not. The quick upgrade will start to get longer for those joining now.

T7 from a route diversity perspective...possibly the best anywhere.

Still hiring B777 type rated FO's? What's the hiring forecast for the year? Are the 787's still arriving late 2014? Anyone interview recently for 777 FO?

Latest is hiring to continue ...Boeing classes full for next three months, then 100 in the pool to be taken on. An additional 150 after pool cleared to get us to end of FY '13.

Interviews ongoing
