I was just reflecting on the recent past. I remember this past spring and I was wondering what would happen over the summer. The prospects looked bleak but there seemed to be some glimmers of hope. Maybe Airtran would do some hiring or maybe Jetblue.

Needless to say, as I look back, This summer turned out to be even worse than I thought it would. And my expectations were low.

So now, I'm wondering about 2010. I'm thinking you are too. I don't have any insight or predictions. I know there have already been a ton of threads with predictions about the future. I hope we will see something positive next year.

The glimmer of hope you are referring to is coming from two industries that require education to compete such as the medical and educational fields with aviation I suggest you keep that glimmer of hope alive for a little bit longer.

Obama will be 1yr deep in the WH. The economy and airlines will be booming. There will be 5 new start up airlines and all of them will be thriving! Regionals will be absorbed by the majors. The smalled airplane being flown will be the DC-9. The FAA will require 12 hours of rest in the hotel rooms and ALPA will "Take it Back" and get all FO's the 6 figure contracts they deserve!
God Bless the United Socialist States of Amerika!
