Hey, I am interviewing for a PHX base in the Caravan. Anyone know about the quality of life, schedule, pay, etc. about Empire.

Thanks~!

Quick question: why leave a CJ3 for a Caravan? Is it a QOL issue?

Regardless, I wish you luck.

Be on the lookout for the new FBOhotties.com site coming in the next couple of weeks... should be good!

I've not heard good things about them. Training contract issues and such.

I'm sure others would say the opposite.

I flew both the Caravans, and the F's for Empire. I left just when they were phasing out the F's for ATR's. I must say the Caravan was one of the sweetest lifestyles I ever had. You often flew 4 days a week, all day work (I was home for dinner with the wife every night).
I flew them out of PDX. There are quite a few guys who have been there (PDX) for 10+ years flying them. They are guys who have been in the industry a long time, doing odd jobs, and finally found a niche.
If I can answer any specifics, shoot me a PM.

empire just voted in a union because work conditions and pay have gotten really bad and management won't work witht the pilot group. but the caravan is a cush job just would do it with another company.

DUDE!!

I am really embarrassed to admit, that I have only just recently seen 'The Big Lebowski' for the first time! BUT, I am proud to say, that I saw it because of your legacy, as a former 'Slumming Supplementalist'.

How are things getting along in the SDF?

Had an amber product produced from the brewery tonight. Ahh, memories.

P.S.: the A. G. helmet is not what it used to be

seriously why do people want to work for a company that their own pilots are trying to either leave as quick as they can or have started a union becaus things have gotten really bad. and yes they voted in a union.

I thought they just sent in A cards.

So it is official, they do in fact have a Union?
You sure? Last I heard, they were just trying to organize.

I agree with Mr Trippe. When I was there I didn't see enought unification within the pilot group to make things happen.
The 135 side used to be happy enough with their lifestyle to not want to rock the boat. Its been a couple of years though.
I do wish the best for everyone there and hope it works out.

What Fokkers&Beer said is right on. most of the caravan guys have outside sources of income, military retirement, spouses job, etc. They are pretty happy to fly their overgrown C182 back and forth to where ever. The 121 crews, on the other hand, live like freakin' gypsies. If ever there was a pilot group in need of a union it would be them. I hope it works out. While the company blows, the crews are top notch. Good luck and God speed to my former SEA bros. where ever they may be.

You can go straight into the ATR.

And, if you're lucky, you can go directly into the left seat of the ATR if a spot is available, and you have the minimum quals.

Empire has hired 'many' off-the-street captains lately. For both the ATR and the F-27.

Hey it's great to "see" all of you again. Fokkers & Beer I will give you a call. ATRCAPT hope to see you on a trip on SW.

Man! I wish I was rich enough to own one of those! Still trying to find a way to get in over 80 hours in a month.

Come to SEA and you will get the 80, but you will also need the Glock to go with it. Always here to help out my home boyz. By the way I
recommend the model 23.

If we ever get rid of "the old reliable", I might just make it back to SEA again some time.

I wouldn't mind having a 19, myself.

I agree with Mr Trippe, the model 19 is my choice.
I also would stick with old reliable, especially on those gravy 45 minute runs. Are they just running spare parts around bailing out the ATR?

No we still use the "VAN" to bail both out of trouble.

Man, I totally can not sit back and let you guys have all the fun. Oh, the good ol' times of hi jacking a Empire thread to rap about such things as, drinking, puking and drinking and puking together. It was a good time "back in the good old days." Flying the F, drinking the best dam beer EVER, Alaskan Amber and creating overall mayhem.
Even though I wouldn't steer anyone over to Empire (check the countless posts about this same subject ie use the search funtion), I'm so glad that I got to see the places that I did and hang out with my SEA brothers and with the best check airman on the face of the earth, D.P.
It was fun while it lasted and I hope everyone is doing just fine.
And BTW, my mom has a G-19. Get a real Glock like a 27 or at least a 26. Sheesh, buy any gun while you still can President Pantsuit is coming.
