My apologies. I was so shocked by the article I posted it without doing any additional research. Thank goodness it was a sensationalized article. Even if it was true, it nothing compared to the atrocities and USA committed along the way to becoming a superpower. I've come to realize there is no country in the world that doesn't have skeletons in the closet.

No need for an apology. When you read or watch something in mainstream media you expect it to be accurate. It is an eye opener when you think of how the mainstream media can steer the direction and the thoughts on a country, the economy, elections, fear about oil prices, and other very important topics especially if the information is skewed, simply inaccurate, or if its been over sensationalized in a ratings grab.

How slick so many will roll over and kiss thy royal's rump for thy giant jet. William Wallace and George Washington are rolling over in their graves.

Sexual Relationships - unless you are married in Dubai you cannot have sex! Even if you have been cohabiting with your partner for decades before you move to Dubai, once you are in Dubai you cannot even legally live together. If you holiday in the emirate and you’re unmarried and you come to the attention of the authorities for some reasons, if it’s then discovered you’re sharing a room and a bed you can be jailed and then deported. In terms of expatriates living in Dubai, if you’re not married to your partner, you cannot live with them and you cannot sleep with them. Do not take the risk.
If you conceive a baby outside of marriage in the UAE you and your partner face imprisonment – and you might think you can get away with it and marry quickly perhaps? But when it comes time to register the birth the authorities can look at when you married and when the baby was born, and if the sums don’t add up you could still be in trouble. Do not take the risk.

They can roll in their graves all they want...this is the UAE, not the USA so nobody here cares if they spin themselves a web.

Thanks for posting the rules in Dubai they are actually factual and very informative. Don't most Christian religions teach the same values you highlighted above? I guess the laws that are based on the ten commandments in the USA...such as murdering, stealing, lying should be repealed.....After all, our founding fathers in the US were very religious as well.

You are correct about the law but it is hardly enforced. You'll be ok as long as you use common sense ie don't have sex on the beach

Isn't that the truth. You and TP provide the best unbiased info on Emirates and life at EK. Do you know EK is ok with colorblind pilots? I know they do a pretty thorough medical. I have the FAA waiver but no clue on how that will fly over there.

I know of a guy that had to find a specific AME that would give him a lantern test rather than the typical colored dots book. The GCAA accepted the pass on the lantern test. If you come armed with positive test results from the lantern test you would be fine.

Excellent, thanks a million

I love this argument, we're going compare present day Dubai to historical America and justify their present actions because of our past before you and I were born.

While were on that logic....Wait, wait, here's a thought, name the most under the radar peaceful like country you can think of, at present time? Let's go with Mongolia. Oh wait, crap, back in the 1200s, the Mongol Empire under Genghis Khan conquered half the world. Damn you Mongolia, damn you!

And Iran invented wine in Shiraz, Iran back in 5000 BC. That must mean present day, they are just a joyful loving country!

I dont think anyone is trying to drag you to Dubai. Why are you so angry with the idea of American pilots leaving severely low paying regional jobs for something better? Sorry my friend, but people have the right to chose what ever they see fit for THEIR lives.

If you consider the size of the old Mongol Empire as being half the world, your world is smaller than mine.
