Thu Sep 7, 7:00 AM ET NEW YORK - Express Jet Holdings said Thursday it plans to enter the aircraft parts business with the creation of an all new Embraer Parts Superstore.

Express Jet said in a statement that it hopes to capitalize on its recent acquisition of 69 Embraer 145 aircraft from partner Continental Airlines.
Express Jet plans to scrap the aircraft in the first quarter of 2007 and house the various salvaged parts and components in a new warehouse, located in Houston, Texas.
"The aircraft parts market is on the verge of a transformative change, driven by the large number of regional jets in service," an Express Jet spokesman said in the statement, referring to a need for a supply of readily available parts to service the fleets of airlines who operate the aircraft.

This smells like another opportunity for off-line over age 60 instructors to pick up some time at the expense of the line pilots. We better be able to bid for these chop shop flights..........

(yes I know this is a joke)

I didn't realize the lease agreements give that much latitude.

Beat them to the punch. Fly one down to Costa Rica, sell off the parts for beer money.

I'll smuggle them to PVR, VSA, MZT or VER and become a gringo bandito, stealing and selling ERJ parts for Aviasca.
