SkyWest already has one airplane with it installed, but deactivated. They got it certified. The only hang-up was the cash. We will see.....

well if they hadn't sunk all their cash into Brazil...

sidenote: Pres/CEO of ASA has stated in the past he wants EFBs (all other wants have come to pass, i.e. ACARS) and his hope is that all pilots have to bring to work (besides the overnight bag) is a headset, no more books

The brazil deal is tiny compared with the cash the jerry has stashed away.

The EFB install looks pretty nice. They go in place of the side clipboard.

The hang up is regarding the 10-9. OO wants it without the 10-9 feature....company won't sell it without.

why would they want it w/ out the 10-9? Just a cost issue? Then we would still have to carry around a book of all the 10-9s.

I think (scary) that it has an aircraft position feature on the 10-9 that the FAA won't certify so they don't want to pay for something they can't use.

I don't know if it's a good idea to be an early adopter with any technology. You'll just end up like the geeks who line up to pay $599 for an iphone when now you get much better for a third of the price. I would like the abilty to check email, play games and surf porn on any EFB installed.
