This the one Bob Hoover is pitching? I seem to remember something like ~$980K. Can't verify it, though.

Is that post-completion, or just the price for the kit? It could get pretty expensive to use the "builder assist" program that they insist you use. It sure as hell would be fun to fly though!!

those jets on that maverick thingy are nothing more than huey (sic) chopper turboshafts, converted to jets. I remember seein the thing at sun n fun, loud as H*LL!!!
You can't really compare the eclipse to the maverick. The eclipse is supposed to be a true, serious biz jet, while the maverick is a fun little toy. Cramped as h*ll.

Eclipse/Maverick

Just got through reading J. Mac's column in Flying on the Eclipse vs Mustang. The company making the Eclipse is trying to sell if for around 850k(year 2000 dollars). However, from the column, it doesn't look as if they have a prayer of getting that engine certified or that it can even work from an engineering standpoint (just going on what J. Mac said, as I'm no engineer). His opinion was the project had no chance of success, and this is a magazine which normally has nothing bad to say about almost any aircraft....

The Mustang price is supposed to be around $2.75 million, and Cessna has a full order book (including columnist Dick Karl from Flying), as they have built a lot of jets and the concensus is that they know what they are doing. Also, they are using an already proven engine - either a Williams or P&W, depending upon bids from both I guess.

Anyone know more about the Eclipse or a better idea of if they can make it work? $850k sounds like very little (relatively) for a jet...
