The pension issue is a huge furball that is horrible for everyone (labor) involved. I'm not fully versed on how much is cut out from IAMAW pensions, therefore I'm not even rendering an opinion based on my own ignorance.
Payroll concessions are another story.
The article states that United is seeking $175,000,000 in labor concessions over 5 years from the IAMAW. If my fifth grade math serves me correctly, that works out to $4.94 a day in reduced earnings per worker over the 5 year period. The cost of a tuna sandwich dosn't seem worth walking out on your entire career.
I hope that the IAMAW Reps and attorneys are forthright with the labor group they are representing. Don't just fire them all up through ranting and pointing fingers instigating THEIR labor group into putting the last nail in their own coffins.
