I've interviewed with American Eagle and Skywest. Eagle said they can have me in groundschool as early as next week, but I've heard that SkyWest has canceled their June and July EMB-120 classes (by the way, anyone know what's going on with that?). Should I take Eagle's offer, or wait for Skywest? Also, I've been told different things by different people, but any more input as to if or why one is better than the other would be appreciated.

Take the job at Eagle, then when SkyWest calls you can decide for certain. I'd say come on over to SkyWest but I am a bit partial...

In either event, congrats...

Take Eagle, and then go to SkyWest if its less then a year wait. If more then a year time to rethink about staying at Eagle.

Which aircraft type at Eagle?

Nothing is for certain. Go for Eagle now and then switch to Skywest if you have the option and you don't like Eagle. Do you know what type of aircraft was offered at Eagle? Personally, I think once you get into the EMB Jet, for example, you might want to stay...

I'd take Eagle and then decide about SkyWest later. You'll probably decide to leave for SkyWest, but ya never know til the time comes.

Great advice by everyone. Take your job where you can get it and start getting seniority built up. Whenever SkyWest calls you'll have a decision to make. The key is to get your foot in the door somewhere and get out of the instructor role. You'll be much happier.

For what it's worth...SkyWest continues to interview and the new airplanes are on the way. They have shown in the past to stop this, if they don't need the pilots. I agree with the group that any "sure thing" is better than a "maybe" but I would guess that your chances of being a jet FO from the start, or at the very least, after 1 year are very good @ SkyWest.

I'd take the first job offer but stay mobile. Good luck!

Go to Eagle for now and wait to see what hapens with United.

.....and Delta, and Continental and whoever we decide to jump in bed with next.

This whole industry is changing in front of our eyes so stay flexible.

Depending how old you are, you would probably be a Jet FO at Eagle also. If you are over 30 I would give you 2 to 1 odds that you'd be able to hold the jet if you wanted it.

New hires have a 1 year seat lock so you will guranteed be able to hold the jet after that's up.

Thanks everyone for all the input...I start groundschool with Eagle on June 21. And igneousy2...I'm 23 - I'm sure I'll be one of the younger ones in class...

Let us know how it pans out for you - especially aircraft type offered. Regardless, you'll get some great experience at your age... You'll be jaded by age 30 and then have 30 years to go...

Last class at Eagle 5/24 was all jet and the people at HR are saying that this next class 6/7 will also be all jet. Some problems with the ATR sim. Take it for what it's worth: 6/21 could again be all jet OR it could be very heavy on the ATR side if the sim problem gets fixed. Good luck.
