E170 cockpit question

another question:

When looking at the above pic, it looks like the rudder pedals are separated by a metal divider. Why is it right next to the "inside" rudder pedal?
 
Could be a weather radar though most aircraft with glass have it integrated with the MFD/ND. Another theory is that it is used to receive a video feed. Really no idea though.

Its part of the air distribution system that flows air, heated or cooled to the pilots foot position. You can't see it in this shot, but there is a control knob near the wemac on the panel to open/close this flow.
 
The compass is mounted on the center windshield post behind the unit. Look at the base of the pedestal, is that a DVD player?


just kidding!
 
Its probably one of those extra options that bottom feeder US carriers won't pay to have put in.
