Non-Sked too

We have had four non-sked freight dogs go to SWA. All great guys. More than anything I believe SWA hires on who you are and how you will fit in. It does not let things like what you flew, if you have a degree, or your flight time above minimums influence thier decisions.

pilotyip , you are right on the money! Thats why there is 3, 45 minute interviews as your main part of the interview process. They as of just lately thrown in that simulated trainer exercise. So they are definately looking for personality and being able to fit the mold so to speak. They will deffinately get to know the real you after that process is complete.

Welcome to the New World

Uaav8r; Best of luck to you in the next frontier of aviation. I am going to retire from Air Wisconsin in Apr after 27 years here. During that time, I thought there was not much else that could happen that I hadn't seen before. Boy, was I wrong. Your exodus from UAL speaks volumes to the fact that the times they are a changin'. Obviously, you have injected a whole lot of realism to your life and career and are doing something about it. It takes a good thinker to do that in the middle of a flying career that is changing rapidly. Good move! I think it will pay off for you, especially in terms of "peace of mind". We at Air Wisconsin have carried the UAL banner for 10 years now and find that we are still at risk of being tied to the anchor of bankrupcy. It is not a good feeling for us internally and find it very unsettling that they (UAL) still thinks our product is too expensive for them. Maybe it is, but the fact is we have done a lot of good work for them over the past 10 years and, to be hones, there is a lot of resentment here that we are being pressured to give back more in order to stay connected to UAL. Where we fall short-sighted in this matter is where we fail to realize that there are people like yourself who realize how unsettling working for UAL is right now. If I were in your shoes and had the time left, I would be doing exactly the same thing. It's not all about the $. There still can be some romance to the profession. One just has to look for it. There will come a time when all the blood-letting will be done with and the future will look much brighter for all of us. The trick is to look for the opportunity to embrace the future and all that it can offer. Rich and unhappy is no way to go through life. There are other things out there. Congrats on your decision. Make it pay off.

Even if we do keep the UAL flying AWAC has to move on. It's just a matter of time before they do it to us again. That time will be our fault for continuing to do business with people like them.

Why is the grass greener at Southwest when compared to high seniority at United? You never know, Southwest might be in a similar condition as United further down the road, nobody knows. What if, and god forbid, another terrorist occurence happens and everything shuts down again? Then you'll be at the bottom and you know which way $hit rolls.

I would seriously reconsider your decision.
The grass is going to be greener at SWA primarily because UAL doesen't have any grass of it's own.

The grass really is greener here. The folks in DAL have been hedging fertilizer as well as oil. They also know how and when to use it.
