Anybody know what happened? Couldn't see what kind of airplane, just lots and lots of fire trucks. Looks like they evacuated on the runway. This happened around 9:30PM or so on May 8. Just curious...

Thanks

We had one of our CRJs (Mesa) land with a gear indication tonight, ASH7367 IAD-LGA, perhaps that was it?

Thanks guys, couldn't tell what airline. It was quite a ways down the runway when we made the left from J onto Zulu for 30. Looked pretty severe and ATC asked the fire crew if the smoke around the aircraft had subsided. Could've been the Mesa flight, not sure.

Regards

AIR CARRIER INCIDENT, WASHINGTON-DULLES AIRPORT, VA 5/8/06
Colgan Air flight 4916, a B190, diverted and landed on runway 1L at
2211E, after reporting smoke in the cockpit. The ARFF responded no fire was
observed and the aircraft taxied to the ramp without incident. The
Washington FSDO was notified by e:mail. (E. Franco/ROO)

On a side note... is UAL still using the G terminal? If so in what capacity?

They have announced that they are vacating the G terminal, and have at the very least started the transition back to A. I know that flights are operating out of some of the old ACA/IDE gates, but don't know if the transition is done yet. The A terminal has been reconfigured to handle the higher passenger capacity and different fleet types (up to the E170), but some of the IDE decorum is still in place (such as the blue fabric boarding tunnels in the terminal- however they have been widened and accomodate two doors now)

A gates are a million times better than the G gates. Little bit of a taxi to 1R or 30 but thats good for block time. Been seeing the G gates used as parking for a UAL 767 & 777 between each of the fingers...pretty cool.

Interesting about the 1900...looked like something bigger from my vantage point...regardless, thanks for the information, much appreciated...glad nobody got hurt.
