Ok so what would you say to a guy who was demoted from captain for certian issues. Then upon a 2nd try at upgrade fails, but continues to wear a captains uniform even though they are an FO the entire time?

Any good zingers?

If I were the captain flying with him, I'd say this:

"Bob, listen, it's really inappropriate for you to be wearing a captain's uniform in this situation. I'd appreciate it if you'd wear the uniform appropriate to your position. Thanks."

It's not like he's a fully-qualified captain who's on reserve and flying a trip in the right seat. He's not a qualified captain, and shouldn't be wearing the 4 stripes. I wouldn't give him too much grief for the blazer, really, since you can't really remove a stripe. But the hat and shoulder boards? Very crass on his part.

You Will Remove That Stripe, Boy! Respect My Authoritay!

Probably the same guy that wore a football jersey to high school when he was only an equipment manager. Or wears his pilot uniform (with hat) at the mall.

Oh oh I know... Call him CAPTAIN Duane Woerth.... he has the sinority to hold captain... BUT NEVER HAS FLOWN THE LEFT SEAT!!

Sorry best I could do.

How long has She been flying?

What difference does it make to you, you are the real Captain aren't you? It is an issue for the CP or Prof Standards if you have one, let them deal with it if they want in their own time. Why kick a guy when he is already down?

Exactly. What do you care? Does it threaten your little ego to have someone give the appearance of not respecting your Authoritay?

Get over yourselves.

As I recall, we had a big problem with this when the Brasilias were retired and a bunch of short time captains got sent back to the right seat. They refused to wear FO uniforms and the CPs set them straight. Let the CPs deal with it and worry about more important things.

I would probably tell you to stop your useless threads, and that your attempt at upgrade and subsequent failure are probably because you are a total tool!

I personally don't see what the big deal is either. I personally would like to fly in jeans and a t-shirt with a goatee;).

Lots of airlines have a policy of: "once a Captain, always a Captain" (given you don't fail any checkkrides of course) and all pilots are hired as potential Captains.

If the company bumps a Captain temporarily back to the position of FO because of something like 911, furloughs or whatever, would that pilot be required to go back to wearing his or her FO uniform?
For example, I knew an md80 capt who was bumped to md-11 fo (domestic). He had never flown the md-11, and they type rated him on it and he continued to wear his capt uniform for the 9 months or so that he was temporarily flying that aircraft in the right seat.

BECAUSE AS A CAPTAIN, IT IS PART OF YOUR JOB TO ADDRESS THE FO'S PERFORMANCE OF HIS JOB, INCLUDING HIS UNIFORM COMPLIANCE. I'm not talking about someone whose sweater is not Blue number 45238-12. I'm talking about someone who is wearing the stripes of a position that he is not qualifed to excercise.
Would you let the mall security guard wear the uniform and badge of a real policeman? Or a 2nd Lt. in the miltary wear a general's star?

yeah point being the person in question was fired as a capt. reinstated as an FO then failed a reupgrade . Now they still want to walk around in 4 stripes

Yup I don't care how many strips you have. If you sit inthe right seat you are still taking the Fat one thats what it comes down to

Sounds like someone has little sausage complex. Jack, you wouldn't be driving a fast sports car too, would you?
