And this is why you should alway dress to egress when flying. Doesn't matter if it's back country, commercial or major airlines. You can always take a layer off or turn down the heat if needed, but its going to suck if you're standing in a field or on the runway freezing.
 
Don't forget your carry-ons when egressing! How could you miss that??? :)

I have seen that very thing before as I was part of the investigation of the BA B777 that aborted takeoff following an engine fire and full EVAC at KLAS back in 2014. You should have also seen what I saw strewn around the bottom of the slides after all had been transported away from the aircraft hull…
 
They need to seriously start fining people for that crap and make examples of them. It will stop. If people die because egress was slowed by people with bags then they need to explore more than civil penalties.
