I just finished reading another post about jet time vs PIC time, and it got me to rethink my situation.

I have 1750 hours of turbine PIC time, but it's in a Caravan. I just upgraded to SIC in the LR-35. My times are 4000 total, 1500 multi and 130 in the jet. I've been asked why I don't apply to SWA (because I keep talking about trying to getting on with them when I have the time) but I personally don't think my Caravan PIC time is going to fill the 1000 turbine PIC they are looking for. The plane is just too easy to fly. So I've been waiting till I can get the turbine pic in one of our jets. Am I waiting for nothing or are my initial assumptions correct?

Thanks

not so my friend...

I've heard of guys getting hired at SWA with caravan time. They specifically state 1000 turbine PIC. Sounds to me like that is what you have. I also believe that SWA makes sure to interview (eventually) everyone who meets their mins. Apply and then worry about the little stuff later. Good luck!

A guy in my new hire class owned a crop dusting business. His turbine pic was from a single engine turbine cropduster.

If you don't gotta ticket... you can't see the show. Send in the App and good luck!!

Dude,

Let THEM decide whether or not your Caravan time is appropriate. Not you. Not the rest of on flightinfo. By waiting, you're simply removing ANY chance of getting hired. What are you afraid of? That WN will get your application and put your name on some "do not hire list" because you had the audacity to believe you Caravan time is sufficient? Unlikely.

What you're probably doing is the same thing that kept me from applying for years. You're afraid of failure, so you wait until you think you have all the boxes checked off until applying. Whether this is true or not, let them decide. Apply today. Quit wasting your time here.

I am sure that SOMEBODY here would disagree, but the way I see it, if you don't send in an application, I can almost guarantee that you won't get hired.

caravan "just too easy to fly" so you think it might not count???

huh? I bet the Global Express I fly is easier to fly than that caravan....

what are you thinking? if its your goal, send it in!

PS - work on the confidence thing before the interview...
