Do not call lists
I signed up for the state "do not call list" in Minnesota last year.
When the federal sign up for such a list was available, our local news media outlets in MSP stated that you need not sign up for the federal program if you were on the state list, as that would be done automatically for you, by the state. I was registered with Minnesota, but knowing how easy the government can screw things up, I signed up on-line with the feds anyway.
Telemarketers must comply by Oct. 1st of this year, but the phone at my house gets very few calls now, but it has not yet been 100% freed up. The really annoying ones I still get, are not even from a live person I could scream at, but are recorded sales pitches with the old menu of selections on your touch tone phone you can "press". I just hang up without a word now, but come October, I'll be following up with violators, in hopes of getting these obnoxious people out of my life, with big fines, and perhaps some cash to me for my trouble.
Did you notice, that our lawmakers conveniently made an exception to the law? Political fund raisers, and campaign workers soliciting your vote for their particular candidate are not covered by the law. What hypocrisy!
