I am not posting to say that TSA is great, but I have to say something. The orginal post is a little over the top. Yes TSA is not the best, but it is not the worst. I have been here 3 yrs and have to say the only time I have ever even spoken with a mgmt person is when I wanted to and had questions.

I show up fly and go home. My checks always cash. Yes i would have maybe 1 or 2 days off a month more if I was at republic. And yes I am 6 months behind CHQ guys that were hired when I was. They are cpt and I am about to upgrade 6 months after them.

This talk of suspensions and failures is false. I would have heard about it. This last class had 2 cpts that failed and have to wait 6 months to retry. I am sure if they honestly posted what happened you would probably find out that they deserved it. You have to understand that the training department for the most part is very straight forward. Know your stuff and you won't have a problem. Show up and have a hard time in the oral answering the ramp weight and you are in trouble. I do believe the 2 cpts failed oral. Tell me what excuse you have to fail memory items or an understanding of the systems of an aircraft to which you are going to be the final authority.

As far as FO new hire. They are having trouble with sim and oral. I know for a fact that they will try to get you through the oral. But again show up without having you memory items and limitations down and you are history. As far as the sim, I can't say much, but I would say if you don't have a lot of multi or complex time I could see how it could be a little overwhelming.

Understand that TSA will hire basically with next to no time. CHQ 1000. So if I have 400 hrs and had a choice of instructing or flying at TSA I would suggest that TSA is a very acceptable option. Get your 1000 and then consider your options. Always leave all doors open.

Consider that we will be out of CPT by July. Now if you happened to have time you could (in theory) come here and upgrade in months. As far as CQFOS, don't see it happening. And actually if they do run out of CPTs by july all they have to do is hire and release seat locks and upgrade you. This is good for the guy off the street with time. IE 7 yr eagle fo and why is it bad for the guys without time. When they get thier time they will upgrade and get instant relative seniority. ie hold a good line??? So really is TSA all that a horrible of an option. I would argue not a bad deal for a 300hr guy and not bad for a eagle FO who wants to get his PIC.....

anyway, if you can get on with CHQ or skywest go for it. But if you are instructing and your phone is not blowing up why not come to TSA.

ba da chiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing:D

My original post is pretty accurate. Trans States routinely suspends pilots "pending investigation," without pay on the word of just about anyone. Then when the pilot is cleared the company finds some minor infraction to charge him with so as not to have to pay him while he was suspended. It has happened MANY times.

Trans States is not the worst choice if you have little time, but once you get the time to move on to a better regional, I would suggest you do so.

Best not to come here at all, if you can help it.

I worked there. It is much worse than you are saying. As bad as it is at 9E, it is light years better than that hole you call TSA.

Was furloughed from TSA in June 06.....right after IOE. For the 9 whole days I sat reserve, and then coming to XJT it is night and day. Contracts dont even compare (XJT 2nd year beats TSA 4th year..... XJT 3rd year tops TSA fo scale). DH is 100% here, airport reserve is 5 hours not 10, the list goes on and on.

People at XJT are for the most part happy and it makes a big difference. The planes work (very few MELs) and the flying is more diverse. I saw more Mx issues on IOE at TSA than I have in all my flying at XJT.

I went there low time knowing it was a stepping stone....didn't take much time. It can be tolerated by the excited new hire, but once you go somewhere else it puts it all in perspective.

Training there isnt bad in fact my experience was that it was quite good/thorough. All places are having the same training issues right now among both FOs and CAs. Failure rates are up at XJT also..... Id bet RAH and skywest have the same issues also.... Its people not studying.... Know your stuff and you'll pass.

Just to add this to the pot:

Since we at Tough Sh!t Airlines are not cass, we can no longer jump seat on Airways. NOT EVEN ON OUR OWN FLIGHTS!!!!! We can't even sit in the cabin. Oh, also the same applies to Continental as well.

That, and the code share captains hate us more than alter ego jet. They at least can sit their jump seat, where as they can only sit in the back on us. (If they are on another codeshare we operate). I was read the riot act by a mainline captain just yesterday. He almost denyed me a seat in the back because of it.

It is only a matter of time when we will not be alowed to jump seat at all because we are not cass. And I don't see us getting it ANYTIME soon. (maybe, if the FAA madates it under 121).

If you work here and don't live at domicile, your commute will get worse, unless you can drive it!

forget Ramos...Deport Hulas!!!!

I remember it seemed bad when I was there, but at least in early 2006 we could jumpseat on carriers we codeshared with (AA, UAL, USAir). You can't even sit in the cabin or jumpseat on TSA flights? That seems a bit absurd... sure you got that right? Thats outrageous if true.

Effective today Airways got a new res system b/c of the merger. There is no way for them to verify our employment in the system other than cass. Since we are not cass............YOU LOOSE! (new tsa mission statement)

Can you still use your flight benefits on Airways?

Weird

How does Southwest verify? Guys jumpseat with them all the time. We of course have an agreement, but I don't think they can verify.

If you already have an active travel card as far as i know, you still have benifits. From what i heard we are no longer getting travel cards because of PG and her actions/crimes. In addition some travel cards were deactivated as a result. I also heard that you can not change any benificiaries on your travel card because of the above person. She screwed the pooch on that one. Another thing i heard is that airways makes us pay zonal fares like american. I guess that is apart of the inergration of AW and US systems.

I can attest to this at least being partially true. PG definitely f'd it up for everyone. Good riddance. She was a miserable STL person anyway. I submitted a reuest to have my girlfriend added to my travelcard the 1st week in December, and as of my resignation on feb 23rd (moved on to XJT) she was still not on the benefits. Every time I called about it, I was given the same BS answer "we've been locked out of the system. We're working on it." 2+ months is more than ample tme for a password reset in my opinion. Sounds like I got out just in time, since I was a commuter (frequently on Airways). That company hates commuters with a passion. Even more than they hate pilots. Its run by a bunch of miserable STL people (STL being a very unfriendly place) whose attitude is "just live in STL". By contrast XJT positive spaces you home on weekends druing training and has a commuter clause. The difference is truly night and day. Hulas and his henchmen are evil men who hate pilots and seem to set out to intentionally make life as miserable as possible for them.

Just thought I would remind everyone what a crappy place to work Trans States has become. It has always been bad, but recently it has gotten worse. Pilots being suspended without pay for no good reason, pilots being harassed about calling in sick, and hard earned vacations being stolen by the company. Pilots are leaving Trans States daily and fewer new pilots are choosing to come here. This place is headed for a meltdown!

There are plenty of other decent regionals out there, go elsewhere!

Trans States didn't just become that way. It has been a piece of sh#t f#c#ed up airline for at least the last 15 years. My condolences to the people stuck there.

Hey someone let me know what pg did. I worked there for a year and hated the woman. She would sit in her office and do nothing of what she was supposed to do. I waited 3 months to get my gf put on my airways benefits and it never happened...i left before it happened.

She was a complete waste

She was selling buddy passes in local bars, passing them off as full fare discounted tickets. She got caught when a pissed off customer made a scene at the gate. The company questioned the pilot to whom the pass had been issued and found out quickly that said pilot had no idea what they were talking about. Believe it or not, the moron management staff was able to put 2 and 2 together and figure out what she was doing.

Can you say $HIT CANNED!

About PG - I always thought that she was wierd, and not that attractive either. She would act all better than anyone, then hide in her office with the door closed all day long so u never knew if she was in there or not.

Good riddance, she was an arrogant biatch
