Just wondering if any of you have any insight on Executive Aviation in MSP. Just got offered a job along w/ king air 300-350 type. But wait Mike, that's not all. This comes with it's very own 10-month training contract.

Been flying for a shafty 121 operator for the last four years and feel it's my time to get the #$%@ out. Any comments ...don't be shy!

Not to sabotage my own thread, but........mmmmmm BBQ. Gonna be a nice weekend.

10 month obligation, although I am dead against PFT, doesn't sound that bad.

I know nothing about the outfit, but if you think your quality of life will improve by taking this job, do it. Also, what's the outlook on your current 121 gig, i.e. is it worth sticking around and sucking it up for a few more years?

FF

Agreed. 10 months isn't that long(most contracts I've seen are 12 to 24 months) and if you think it will improve your 1) quality of life, 2) your pay, or 3) future prospects then by all means take it. The 300/350 is a great airplane - you'll like flying it. My only caution would be - it sounds like it's a 135 operation and you're doing the right thing checking them out. There are alot of 135 operators that are alot more shady than any airline ever thought about being but if it looks like a stand up company go for it

And if you don't take it let me know - I will ;)

Have a great weekend - CL

A contract isnt PFT, and 10 months like others have said is as pretty good one.

But job security is the name of the game these days. If its more secure than your current job, thats what matters.

Good luck.

10 months is not too long...
even if it is a short term job for you, byt the time you train, get flying, keep looking for newer work, and leave...10 months is up!

Only You can answer this question, the 10 month thing shouldn't be too much a factor.

I dont know too much about the MSP area, but posts here have shown it slim pickings up that way. Many guys probably envy you!

You think 121 can be shady? Ever flown 135?? some can be completly pitch black, nevermind shady!! Get as much info as you can!

Good Luck and congrats.

Did someone say BBQ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

OK, a statement like that and you expect me to keep on track about flying????

I just got back from Rio De Janeiro yesterday, had some excellent Brazilian BBQ (Churrascaria, Rodizio Style) at Porcão Rio's... Excellent food with an excellent view! :D (If your machine doesn't have the range to get to Brazil, they have one in Miami too!) ;)

MMmmm..... Seja bem vindo ao Porcão Rio's...

What was the question again???

Oh yeah.... flying somethin' or other... ;)

This doesn't sound that bad, especially if you are wanting to break into the Corporate Area... If your pay, quality of life and advancement potential improve by taking this job, I would think it is a "no-brainer"

Woohoo! Falcon Capt is back. The corporate boards have been lacking good BBQ conversation lately.

hey someones been eatin' th gooood brazilian beef, huh?

RIO....man last time I was there, stayed at the JW Marriott on the beach....the beach area has really turned into the "hood"....:(

Yeah, we stayed at the JW Marriott also... was only there for the day (Got in at 5am and left for Sao Paulo at about 8pm)... Nice hotel, but I know Copacabana Beach is not a place you wanna walk after sunset!

If you flew 1900's, you shouldn't need a type. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that the 1900 and 350 is a common type. This job sounds to me like a good offer. I too had reservations about signing a 12 month training contract...28 months ago.

Early on they were a common type, but that is not the case any longer... The KingAir 300/350 is a common type, the 1900 is a separate type.

Sao Paulo....stay at the Intercontinental?
some real good eats across the street on the corner..forget the name of the joint...
plus the local babes aren't bad on the eyes!!:D :D

Im heading own that way next month...only two or three nights and three cities....no fun time...:(

We actually dropped them at the downtown (domestic) airport and positioned to the International airport.. stayed at the Marriott right at the airport, we were only on the ground there about 15 hours... was a very quick trip... left tuesday late afternoon and was home Thursday night.

What???????

I can't believe you couldn't find something minor to break that would have taken say 24 to 48 hours to get fixed.;)

Not that I've ever thought of doing that myself. :D
