Any guesses? Gives us more time to Negotiate? More time for NWA guys to retire? More time for RA to decide on which planes stay or go? Here is what he said about the DCC:

"We’re watching closely and we want to make certain that we right size the airline,” Anderson said. He also said Delta will likely move toward a “fleet simplification,” meaning that some aircraft types may be removed from the fleet of the combined airline."

He didn't even let the ink dry before he stated he may simplify the fleet. Hmmm? 742s and some DC9s? Anyone else have anything???

Bye Bye---General Lee

My guess, say good bye to the 742s, the DC-9s and the MD-90s. I think this may also be why the AE is not out yet....management has known for a while that they will be parking airplanes. On both sides. Standby to move backward.

Great. They get the stamp from the DOJ, close the deal at 5PM, and then start throwing the "right sizing the airline" term around. Probably start hearing the "base efficiency" term shortly. Of course, they have decided to right size the airline and simplify the fleet due to high fuel costs, NOT the merger.

The SLI is basically deciding who will be furloughed. Quite obviously they can't announce fleet reductions before the SLI is done becouse that would blow the whole deal ala US Air/ America West. As for what will replace the DC-9's and MD's, my bet is that it will have 76 seats in it. And so the trend continues.

Honestly, is this really a suprise?

I would not freak out just yet. There is talk but no official decision yet.
Bet the end of the list goes DOH if they do in fact want to shrink it.

Bet the end of the list flows back to some carriers that didn't sign onto the flowthrough......

76 seaters are just about capped under the current scope language. Interesting times ahead thats for sure.

But, but no front line employees will be laid off due to the merger.....right???????

We will see how this plays out. DCC went quick now it is time for the SLI to be done too. Maybe a Halloween surprise?

So is the no furlough and the removal of six seat from every RJ for the pre 9-11 hires. We eat our young and it is better if we just accept it.

What are curent numbers for the "New" Delta? I figured about 12500 pilots and 810 aircraft. Is that right?
