A question in the Senate Hearings for the possible US/DL takeover:

Question to Doug from Sen Stevens "Where do you buy your airplanes?" Answer: "We haven't bought for a while, but we have Boeing and Airbus."

That's funny, you also have 2 mainline E190s already from Brasil. You also just made a follow up order converting some options to A321 orders (5 I believe). But, you haven't bought for awhile....

Bye Bye--General Lee

Parker is a POS! He is terrified that when Delta comes out of BK, they will DECIMATE US on the European routes right along with domestically! He is acting like a scared little man! Never Gonna HAPPEN!!!!!

That is a valid point. I think they want Delta so they can get rid of their biggest competition. Kinda like buying the restaurant across the street that is taking your business.

thats exactly whats going on and exactly why this merger will be shot down by the DOJ.

An example of the US/AWA merger would be there is a restaurant accross town that has a similar menu so lets buy it, get synergies in purchasing from our suppliers and brand recognition for both.

Your example is spot on the DL/US situation.

The 190 deal was done about 4 years ago, during the Mid Atlantic disaster under the now rich as hell Dave Siegal! So I guess DP could get away with saying they haven't purchased new airplanes for awhile! The Airbus's were also already on the books! They just changed them to 321's with the the blended winglets!!

I am no DP fan!! But what he said is basically true!!

General, research your info first!! ;-)

Really? What happens when they come out of BK?

Were they "decimate"ing US on European routes before BK?

What will be the big change that Parker is supposedly fearing?

Research your info first? Riiiiiight. Do you pay for orders back then, or just the options? Wouldn't you pay the additional money when you actually ORDER them? I think I am right. He did just ORDER the A321s. You should know better Wsurf---they had to pay the difference once they committed to the order. And, he did this AFTER AWA and USAir got together. So, I was right, and he also just attended the E190 ceremonies, but convienently forgot. Hmmmmm. Good try diverting the facts Wsurf. Will he phone that Senator back and give him the correct answer now?

I think one of the things that will come from the merger failure is that it made DAL propose some pretty ridiculous valuations for its BK exit plan.

The creditors are gonna want to see the jack that DAL management promised.

Just like DAL to claim they only have Boeing, what MD-80 don't count.

Who supplies all of their aircraft parts now? Boeing. Boeing bought Douglas you know. Remember the MD95? That turned out to be the Boeing 717.

Airbus and Embraer have not been aquired by anyone.

The question was, "Where do you buy your airplanes?" It's a simple question with a simple answer. Doug was put on the spot and he squirmed and did the best he could not to answer the question. The fact is that LCC has no aircraft orders from Boeing, only Embraer and Airbus. The simple answer is we will be taking delivery of Embraer and Airbus aircraft.

Does LCC have any Boeing orders/options on the books?

They bought all the MD-80 from parts from Boeing and they assembled them? lol. Don't be stupid. The check for these planes was made out to MD a competitor to Boeing.

Don't be stupid? Riiiight. Yes, we bought planes from MD a long time ago, but that name doesn't exist anymore. Boeing supplies us now. Do you still fly on Republic DC-9s from MSP? Northwest now flies the DC9s, but they were really bought by Republic. I guess they are still Republic DC9s..... That is what I call them when I follow them in ATL.....according to you...

Republic doesn't build planes. MD, Boeing and Airbus do. An MD-80 is not a Boeing product. I have a Toyota and buy parts from Autozone do I have and AutoZone car. lol. Get some sleep you sound loopy.

The US taxpayer bailed out USAir, and they bought french and brasilian, thank you very much. DAL has long term plans to go all Boeing. Before CAL started going all Boeing, the philosophy was to be as diversified as possible so if there was a fleet problem, your whole fleet wasn't grounded. (remember the DC10 engine mounts) Now that planes are more reliable, fleet commonality makes more sense because fewer types and manufacturers means lower program costs. Manufacturers also give better deals to airlines for their brand loyalty.

Even someone with limited intelligence such as yourself can see that! Well, maybe not! DL will be a leaner more competitive carrier.

Were they "decimate"ing US on European routes before BK?
The real international push wasn't established until the "new management team" came on board, some of them from CAL, and look at how well they are doing. There is more money to be made internationally!

What will be the big change that Parker is supposedly fearing?
Half the debt, and a lower casm than most of the legacy carriers and some of the lcc's!

It was brought to my attention that my above statement could be misunderstood. Just to clarify, when I wrote , "The simple answer is we will be taking delivery of Embraer and Airbus aircraft." It was the simple answer Parker could have given the Senators, DAL has no orders for either aircraft.

Not saying that MD's are in production just that they're NOT a Boeing product (i.e. DAL all Boeing fleet..not), which I believe is an obvious statement.

Also...
Boeing hasn't built MD helio's in many years bouyyyyy.

who cares? The main point that the senator was driving home was the USAirways operates a bunch of airplanes built in Europe while Delta operates aircraft built in the US. Arguing about the MD-88 being a Boeing product or not is irrelevant. Do you think the senator who asked that question cares as long as it was built in the U.S.?

Where in there did he say anything about where they were built?

Why would that senator care? Hell, I bet he drives either a BMW, and Mercedes Benz's!!

Plus look at where most of the parts of the boeings come from!! That should sum that up!!!!!

It's called "Name Recognition" which of course....BELONGS to DELTA!! More people fly to Europe on Delta than any other carrier. Parker is just TERRIFIED of the "Leaner, Meaner Carrier!"

Surf...Boeing has those parts made in other countries to keep the WTO happy. Notice that ALL of the Main Aircraft Assembly is done in the U.S. Don't pull that lame card!

Buy American. Yeah baby!
If it isn't boeing I'm not going!

Why jump all over GL? He was right, Parker forgot he had new Embraers coming, and new airbus planes he recently converted from options to orders.

Boys...I`ve got a 1942 Willys Jeep in my garage. The Jeep is now built by Damleir Chrysler. Is my Willys Jeep now a German one? Inquiring minds want to know, and BTW, the MD 88`s and MD 90`s are not Boeings.
