that is because an ATP is certification. A 135 check is for proficiency.

they can do an ATP during a 135 check, its the same stuff, but it has to be done by an FAA inspector.

Aren't the FSI evaluators authorized DPEs for the ATP?

I'm pretty sure that it's just Company policy to have your ATP prior to your upgrade ride. Plain and simple.

Everyone please join me in thanking my man, President Obama, for issuing the kill order on Bin Laden. One less P.O.S. breathing the air on our planet.

Check ride manuevers are similar - there may be a coulple extra manuevers combined with more restrictive tolerances for the manuevers. but basically the same ride.

Only 1 DPE @ FSI for the Piaggio P180. Avantair uses Avantair Instructors and Check Airmen. Not FSI's for the obvious standardization reasons. So it can be done, just isnt recomended do to logistical reasons. Every Pilot has an ATP except a few pilots hired back in 2007 or '08 when pilots were scarce and jobs were plentiful.

91K requires that a PIC have an ATP - 135 only requires a commercial certificate.

I have not heard of anyone being pulled from the line for not having one.

Yes. Thank you President Obama for continuing the Bush policies. And thank you President Bush for the enhanced interrogation of terrorists at Gitmo who provided the lead to Osama's location.

Yes, this is truly Bush's victory. Osama was caught by bush despite Obama. Thank God we have such a strong president right now that he can be present over two years after leaving office. And that he can be effective with a Kenyan in the oval office speaks volumes as to how great he is.

Bush is awesome. It was reported on Fox so it must be true.

Can you get an ATP in a sim?

BTW Herman Cain is good to go. Fair Tax guy.

Yes you can. I got my ATP and DHC-8 type at the same time. You just have to have your written done of course. The cool thing is as long as your with a 121 (possibly 135) company, your written does not expire. Mine was over three years old when I got my ATP out of the way. You cannot though get your ATP outside of your company if your written is expired. You have to get it with your current outfit. So if you have to wait say 5 years to upgrade, you would have to re-take your written if you want to do your ATP checkride sooner outside your company.

Yeah, lets thank the same guy who just last month was going to stop the pay for all military men and women (the one's you should really be thanking.)

Oh yeah, you can get an atp in a sim...

It depends on the level of the sim. Older and cheaper sims don't have the full landing certification needed to complete the ATP. Most of the maneuvers are done in the sim and the check is completed in the airplane. This was standard practice not that long ago.
