Please site any carrier in the world that hasn't hired pilots without their ATP.
Not the point. Your operation is about the only one to hire in the last few years, so yes, it is suprising you still have people with no ATP. Maybe your hiring standards are in line with the regionals.

NetJets has NEVER hired a non-ATP pilot? Really. Going way back to the early days it's NEVER happened? I personally know guys there who were hired without it straight from the right seat of an RJ.

Sure, my guess is all those pilots had it. But that by itself doesn't change the status of a guy hired before that doesn't have an ATP and never upgraded for whatever reason.

As for the source - I heard it from a guy at Avantair who is looking for someplace to get an ATP in a hurry. Supposedly they gave him 2 weeks to get it. Whether he understood what they want or didn't convey the story accurately I don't know...that's why I asked if anyone has heard anything like this. It seemed strange to me since they could easily have remedied this in recurrent. It just doesn't sound right...I agree.

Might have been a guy who is about to upgrade. Turns out you need an ATP to fly left seat. Currently Avantair is not authorized to give the ATP check ride. They are working on that too.

Gunfyter: you can't just say something that's not true and make it a fact. NetJets has hired commercial only pilots and you know it. Just admit it. You'll feel better.

I've never flown 135 so I might be wrong, but isn't a 135 PC the same basic ride as an ATP?

Why would I admit what isn't true? Oh yeah, Netjets has hired commercial pilots as Dispatchers and Flight Managers, and Flight Attendants! Actually some of them have their ATP.

Now that makes sense - no ATP, no left seat. Still it's surprising they have no one to check that box off in house.
