Correct of Me If I'm Wrong......121 Carriers are required to have a destination Alternate every time they depart?

Not for domestic operations. They are subject to the same 1-2-3 rule that everyone else is. For international or overwater operations it depends on their individual op-specs.

False. Same 1-2-3 rule that you're familiar with except that our criteria for an alternate being legal is a little different than 800-2 and 600-2.

Rats! ATR beat me to it!

Part 121 carriers need destination alternates using the 1,2,3 rule.

1 – 1 hour before and after scheduled arrival time
2 – If the ceiling (broken or overcast layter) is less than 2000’ or,
3 – Visibility is less than 3SM.

Some carriers also require an alternate if there are excessive crosswinds.

So if you have a good weather day, you do not require an alternate and you get to save carrying some fuel.

Edit: Damn, you bet me to it. At least I explained the 1, 2, 3 rule for this guy.

Well, I guess by the way the FAR's are worded, yes you do ALWAYS need a destination alternate, UNLESS the 1-2-3 rules apply. But to answer the original intent of the question, no, 121 carriers depart all teh time without an alternate.
