American Eagle Airlines Reports July Traffic

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug 2, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- American Eagle Airlines today reported systemwide traffic for July increased 33.8 percent from July 2003, on a capacity increase of 28.6 percent. System load factor was 73.2 percent, up 2.8 points year over year.

American Eagle boarded 1.67 million passengers in July, up 20.9 percent from July 2003.



Delta Air's Comair July Traffic Up 20%, Load Factor Rises

CINCINNATI (Dow Jones)--Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) said July traffic at its Comair unit rose 19.9% to 591.2 million revenue passenger miles from 492.8 million a year earlier.
A revenue passenger mile is one paying passenger flown one mile.

Load factor, or percentage of seats filled, at Comair was 73.4% for the month, compared with 72.4% a year earlier, the Atlanta-based carrier said in a press release Monday.

For the six months of the year to date, Delta said the Delta Connection carrier flew 3.69 billion revenue passenger miles, up 32.2% from 2.79 billion a year earlier.

Mesa Air July Traffic Up 82.5 Percent, Number of Passengers Carried Exceeds 1 Million


PHOENIX (AP) -- Mesa Air Group Inc., a regional connection carrier, said Friday that July traffic rose 82.5 percent, while the number of passengers carried during the month climbed to more than one million.

The airline flew 565.5 million revenue passenger miles during the month compared with 309.9 million miles flown a year ago. Monthly load factor rose 7.7 percentage points to 78.1 percent from 70.4 percent a year earlier. Mesa carried 1.11 million passengers in July 2004, compared with 683,090 in the same period last year.
 
Why depressing? Majors cut back. Regionals pick up the slack. As economy turns around, there is good feed. Majors pick up the pax again.

Trends. Just like flying.... UP and Down...
 
I may be wrong here but this is depressing from a jumseating point of view, right?
 
Why would Comair's numbers jump from year to year? Simple. They are getting more aircraft. They have increased their seat numbers. If they had lower numbers compared to last year after getting new RJs, then I would be even more worried.
