DAL's numbers are adjusted for the 60 less pilots that will not retire this year. But it may go up again if there are more 90's added to the property.
They are still looking at hiring 550+ this year.

We have stronger scope. Delta has better min garuntee. We have newer fleet. Delta has larger amount of widebodies. Its good that we talk so that we can compare notes for our contracts. I hope Delta tops our new contract to come. Its called raising the bar. Deltas contract is superior to ours. So if you Delta guys want to help raise the bar maybe you can educate some of the CAL guys what a good contract should look like. That way you too will have something worth topping.

200 untill May only at CAL?

Does that mean that the 12..8..12..8 per month is old news already?

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I have been told that as recently as earlier this week the number was 150 from now until May. Then on Thursday (or Friday) that number went up to 200. Hopefully this just gets better, but it sounds like they may still be trying to figure out a solid number based on the Age 65 legislation, price of oil, etc...

Hiring will continue throughout the summer though at a greatly reduced pace, and then pick back up again from September through the Spring of 2009. I believe that is the cycle that the hiring has been on for the past two years. I have not heard any "revised" numbers for the Fall hiring though.

No one is retiring now. Anywhere. ALL retirements at every airline have been pushed back 5 years. Now, some *may* retire before 65, but 65 is the "new 60". Don't expect anyone at any airline to be out before 65, minus a few earlies, medical outs, etc.

The 250 pilots being hired this year is due to growth. Delta is hiring 700. Even a percentage basis, DAL is hiring more than CAL.

Just thought I would chime in here on the DL Hiring. As of last week the projections are for 400-500 New Hires for 2008 based on current trends. As always these numbers change as things change. I.E. Oil, Merger speculation, Revenue forecasts, Network Shifts Etc, Etc
