172driver,

No, anyone can sign up for the jumpseat on the phone, and it is first come, first serve. It doesn't matter if you are senior or not---whomever shows up first or calls first gets it. And, it makes sense to call ahead because you never know when a flight may cancel and your flight is now full.

The company has always held the jumpseat close to them because they do not want the other employees to think that the pilots are getting something that they cannot give the other employees. Even though jumpseaters come after company non revs in the back, they still didn't want to give the impression that other airlines' pilots got a seat when our people could not. That sounds complex, but they just didn't want the other employees to feel cheated.

And, if you want to shut off unlimited OAL jumpseats to our airline---then that is up to you. We negotiated unlimited jumpseats already, and it will SLOWLY happen, which is better than nothing. Hopefully you guys have CASS too---because we will in AUG. Do what you must.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Hmm, didn't know that. Seniority based at CMR, and assumed it was the same for you guys. Explains much of the reason people aren't too willing to give it up for a seat in the back. Of course, once a seat in back is assured, the proper thing to do is give up the JS to an OAL guy. However, in the frenzy of boarding and stressed gate agents, I can see why some would just take the JS they listed for and go.

That makes no sense at all. Why would any company employee get that impression if they had a higher priority?

Of course I don't want to do that and there is no talk of it. I simply don't understand why we can haul unlimited OAL pilots around the country but I only have a shot at one seat on their airplane. It's frustrating. Incidentally, CASS and unlimited JS at CMR will do nothing for you Gen. You already have those privileges with us.
