CAL has a new bid out already that recalls all their furloughees.

I would rather earn the job than flow into it.

We all would...but only a complete fool would turn down a job like that to satisfy his pride.

You won't give a rat's fat *ss how you got there once you start getting a nice paycheck.

I'm surprised you took the bait....But since you did...

Many of the "flowthrough ALPA cheerleaders" have sold us on the fact that flowing up is best for us. In addition, we have been sold the line that is best for us if this flying goes back to the mainline.

You have now agreed with us that for many of us it doesn't make sense...How does ALPA now deal with this conflict of interest? I belong to the group you speak of above as do many of us at the regionals. We will never recover the lost seniority...Are we honestly expected to support a union that takes our flying away? How do we support a union that tries to do this?

I'm actually impressed by your statement above as it acknowledges the issue we face...I'm surprised you took the bait....

As more 50 seaters are turned into beer cans and the legacies try to take back some of the 70/76s seaters that "took over" some of their flying, those senior guys may wish that they had taken the flow up. With hundreds of pilots retiring each year over the next decade, those current flow ups will find themselves on widebodies in a few years, easily surpassing what they were making at the Regionals. And with a new contract also due in the next couple years, those current mainline payrates will jump even higher. A lot more upside than downside right now doing the flow up. And, if there are any problems in the next couple years, those pilots can FLOW back DOWN to the left seat of an RJ. But hey, you say it doesn't work....... Can you give me some downside (besides having me as their Captain) for the flow up Joe? (oh wait, your 4 weeks of Summer Vacation in Myrtle Beach may be at risk!)

Bye Bye--General Lee
