General, or any other DAL gods/goddesses out there: would it help to have non-pilot recommendations from inside of DAL?

I have some friends in the mkt and finance departments, I think they might give me recs if I get them drunk enough.

Any thoughts? Better yet, anyone know?

I don't see why not. The recommendation form has a section for people who have flown with you, and people who have not. As long as they are a Delta employee, I don't see the difference. If they can vouch for you character, then that would be taken into consideration I would guess. The recommendations from people who have flown with you are probably weighted more, though. It's better than no recommendations.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Thanks General.

I have guys on the line to write me recs as well, I just wanted to get all the help I could. I'm not good so I need all the help I can get.

And to the military thing, I just talked to a buddy who got on....being military don't help a bit if you fail any of the tests. Also, the interview group he was in was 4 mil/ 3 ASA/1 Mesaba. Just FYI.

Schiphol,

Don't get defensive, I don't think they meant any harm with the post. It is a fact right now at Delta we have less than 20% of our applicants are military. I think they were trying to point out that fact to you. I've talked to the pilots selection group a couple of different times and each time they asked if I knew of any military fixed wing pilots that have the ability to get out right now. A lot of the applications that we do have from military guys have an availability date 6 months or more from now. Good luck

Wish Management had the same kind of interviews the pilots did, maybe they would only lose half as much money every Quarter.

I wasn't taking any offense...no worries. I have heard the same about Delta. It may be true. But I think everyone (maybe except CMR) gets a decent shake.

and THAT is good info to known about availability: since I'm about to be IMMEDIATELY available and already live in the ATL.

How does DL feel about corporate types?

I was a corporate only type in 2000 when they hired me. They hired 2 other corporate types in my class. It did not seem to matter where you came from if they felt that you would be able to complete the training.

Good luck!
