40 positions on a 12,000 or so list is really nothing in the grand scheme of things. I am now 50 places back from some guys that were in my class that I think was 25. Do I care NO. What are the chances that those few guys ahead of me are going to want to fly the same aircraft out of the same base on the same days that I desire? Slim....I am still within 1% of my original seniority. Everyone has to start at the bottom. I would say we are probably at the best airline currently to be at the bottom. I am fully aware that I could get bumped off of my current aircraft but that is what happens when you are at the bottom of the list. I hope that if I get bumped I can stay in base and not commute, but once again if that happens what can I expect, I am junior. Some day we will move up the list just like everyone else.

I just don't get all the complaining.

One number counts! 40....is a ton when you are on the bottom! Don't think it matters? Go ask the 10 or so bottom NWA FE reserve guys commuting to Alaska! Guess who is the bottom now. I don't want to argue about the staple or what people sign up for. But don't think for a second that, in thier position, EVERY number doesn't count.

the only fair way to do it is via DOH.....and EVERYONE will be equally pissed off at the same time except for the #1 guy

I agree, 09 will be a blood bath for DCI!

Yeah, but what do you care, right? I mean, you got yours, and now could care less about ASA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your tone of posts seem to rip a new one to DCI carriers (including ASA) ever since you got yours and moved onto mainline.

If I'm not mistaken ACL was one of a handfull of guys that was yelling to stop the growth of DCI while he was at the regionals. To my knowledge he has always pushed for as much flying as possible to go to mainline. With that said, I dont think his tune has changed one bit now that he is at a major.

You better stick to your corporate jets. You have no idea about the issues we are dealing with. At DAL just about everybody can fly any airplane at any base, that's not the case at NWA, wait, that was not the case before at NWA. You have no clue, but just to give you a glimpse. Imagine your company merges with a company that has about 1500 pilots; out of those 1500 pilots, 120 have been hired since 1999. Would you think DOH is fair, yeah, I thought so.

Buddy all I can say is all Delta flying should be flown by Delta pilots. I spent 7 years at ASA and I felt the same way back then. Every time I saw a new RJ, I knew main line was that much further away. If you are thinking of staying at a regional for your career, good luck, just remember, it's all about cost, and nothing else. The moment somebody undercuts you, DAL will transfer A/Cs to that company.

Where was this attitude at the majors, circa 1991-1993 when the CRJ first came out? Maybe you can refresh everyone's memory, but something about not wanting to fly a 'small' jet, protect larger flying and pay, etc.

You tell me? I'd certainly like to know. Maybe depends on which carrier bought out the other. Maybe DOH is not fair. How about a staple. Definitely not fair? How does one draw a line between what's "fair" and what's not when it comes to integrating two legacy carrier seniority lists? It ends up in arbitration, and whether the outcome of the integration was "fair" depends on who you talk to...
