WASHINGTON, Dec 5 (Reuters) - The pilot union of Delta Air Lines Inc. (DALRQ.PK: Quote, Profile , Research) on Tuesday "denounced" an $8.5 billion takeover bid by US Airways Group Inc. (LCC.N: Quote, Profile , Research), saying a US Airways presentation about the offer revealed conflicts that would affect the viability of the merger.
The Air Line Pilots Association, which is on the nine- member official committee of unsecured creditors of Delta, is the first creditor group to publicly oppose the merger after a presentation by US Airways to the committee and Delta management last week.
The union said Delta and its employees were "actively defending" the company against the bid after an initial analysis of the offer revealed significant conflicts with their contract.
Finally. Anti-merger rally Dec 13th in Atlanta. Be there or be square.
