I usually don't respond to Tanky, since he really doesn't know what he is talking about, even though sometimes he is mildly funny. Good ole Redflyer said DL had 1000 RJs, then he said 800. I pointed out it was less than that, and getting smaller. 100 more will leave the fleet this year alone with some Saab props. So, that is GOOD. (RJs leaving----I have to say that so Tanky and Red understand that is what I mean, rather than RJs are GOOD)

The $6K or whatever is less, but we are not taking paycuts still. Our joint contract, which was done during $130 a barrel oil back after the merger, gives us a 17% raise over 5 years. That is expiring next year. Not a great raise, but a better raise than USAir, United, CAL, AA, etc. Not Southwest pay YET, but thanks to the Airtran guys getting that pay, it will be easier to negotiate for it. Delta has always used the Airtran pay as an excuse not to go too high. Thank you Ty Webb and Lear 70.

Alright Tanky, anything else? Pre-paying for a type is NOT good for the
industry, especially since Southwest can afford it. And it looks like Southwest will be paying for any Airtran guy currently in the 717 to move over to the 737, when Red gets bumped. How ironic. Do you think that is a bad move?
Poor Southwest will have to pay themselves for Airtran 717 guys to move the 737. PROFITS WILL PLUMMET!!!! And are you still working a desk job in Korea?
Sure you are. Enjoy the kimchee. Southwest will be a great fit for you
eventually, and it will be great to see you junior to every Airtran guy, and barely behind Redflyer.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Hillarious. I can't wait to watch that SLI unfold. There will be so many
disappointed people out there.

OYS & GL....spin all you want. Delta is a second tier airline for pilots. You guys are the AA of airlines. Not even AAA. You are a has been. A guy who had a couple good years in the pros and are no just fighting to try to get back in the show. Sorry guys. You know it already. You just don't admit it publicly. You were once proud to say you were a Delta pilot but now not so much. Sorry guys. I really do feel sorry for you. I know it doesn't help that a bunch of guys who paid for their type ratings have pity for you, but they're hoping some day you'll be OK. Good luck guys. Hopefully it's not to late for you guys to make one last run at the majors. (granted, you'll probably have to move airlines)

No doubt, and you still couldn't get hired. What's that make you? A third tier pilot?

I admit it, I'm just glad you didn't get hired. You'll just have to keep serving coffee and faxing air force paperwork.

Well, since you put it that way, now it makes it all better!

Maybe I'll apply at Song!

What a sad day it really is. A low cost airline is the industry leader in pay. Cargo airline pilots make more money than passenger airline pilots. Does that make sense? Sucks. ALPA?

Will it always be that way? Let's see how ALPA does on this next one next year, and it will start with the opener. If it is too low, then you'll have your answer. The legacies did get hammered in bankruptcy, and pilot groups are digging their way back up. At the same time LCCs are getting more expensive, and that will create problems too. Big cargo can put fuel surcharges into the shipping rates easier than passenger airlines too.

Watching these Delta guys is like watching Eastern, Pan Am, or TWA as it was collapsing. Looks like the AA and UAL guys kinda can see Rome burning. Delta guys are just content to play their fiddles.

Any orders right now?

Bye Bye---General Lee

Wow, gen. You're really not that smart are you. Yea, they will 'announce' them when they are ready and things are lined up (not one day prior to that). You do understand how aircraft orders work don't you? You are aware you can have orders without announcing anything right?

Everytime you post, you make yourself look like you have no idea how things happen in the real aviation world.

Answer these questions for General, if you have the stomach..

Who's furloughed pilots before, SW or DL?

Who's filed for bankruptcy before, SW or DL?

Who has the more employee friendly management team, SW or DL?

Who has outsourced thousands of mainline jobs(and salaries), SW or DL?

Who's posted 40 years of continuous profits, SW or DL?

Which pilot group gets paid more, SW or DL?

Which pilot group has the flexiblity to make more if desired?

Who has more potential for worldwide growth (not codeshare)?

Who has a contract with ZERO 'connection' feed?

Who has a tight, definable limit on codeshare, SW or DL?

Who's gonna bring on more 76 seat RJ's in the future, SW or DL?

Who's cutting back and overstaffed, SW or DL?

Who's interviewing and hiring, SW or DL?

I know anything can happen in the future, just as it can to Delta. But the thing is, history alot of times repeats itself when the legacies don't change their prior practices. You can understand that can't you Gen?

And it's not cockiness Gen, it's simply the facts. I have ZERO worry about the SLI or any furlough at SW. Live with it dude.

Have a FANASTIC night.

"Which pilot group gets paid more, SW or DL?"

If the answer to this after 2012 is still SWA I think that will be the begining of the end of ALPA.

You may be right. I know that ALPA is worried, and has asked a lot of Delta pilots via phone polls about the start of an inhouse union---the DPA. A lot of people are interested in that now.

And back when I was at my first airline, Delta piggybacked off of us and got a huge contract, that pays a lot more than SWA does today. Was that the reason Delta went BK? Ask General Lee, I doubt he would agree with that. Are pilot costs the sole reason an airline goes bankrupt? If that is the case, SWA should have been BK a few years ago.

Yes, that was interesting. Nothing will ever happen to you. Delta just hired (I was among them) and it's been awhile since Southwest has had a class, right? I think the 76 seat RJ limit is almost capped. You may be right about 6 or 7 new ones. But we are also bringing on 60 MD90s. You guys are adding 85 717s and more 737s, with the crews. You also have fewer scheduled retirements. Volaris connects with your airline, and feeds it, right? Can you have worldwide growth when you don't have slots or gates anywhere else in the World? Who is overstaffed? Pilot wise, none of us. I'll let Lee answer some more of those questions, but I thought I should take a crack at it, since some have obvious answers.

Six,

It's just not worth it. Red has his deal, and you and I have ours. But, we can hope that the Airtran guys do get a fair shake at their seniority list.
