I think I will keep enjoying the best airline service across the pacific with award winning meals finished by desserts from Pierre Herm?

We invented first class airline service in the US, but it is long gone and not really making a good job at improving it. The best performing airline in the US is DAL and the world standing numbers are slipping!

Dumb Pilot, whatever helps you sleep at night. How's the IRS treating you lately? I understand that they've taken quite a liking to expats lately. I guess that just an added bonus of working for the 'bestest airline evah'.

I live in the US and file accordingly....! My sleeping patterns as well as my understanding of how much the US airline industry needs to improve are fine thank you!

How is living with your head buried in the sand working for you?

Awesome; that's got to be a great commute.

I'm fine buried with my head buried in the sand. I spent my furlough years making sure that I was financially in a position to never be dependent on a salary again. In my early 50s, I can retire any time I want to and still leave a sizable estate.

Frankly, I stopped caring about the industry's reputation quite a while ago. The US airline industry is giving the traveling public EXACTLY what it wants. Cheap airfares; just look at Spirit's quarterly statements and compare it with customer feedback on the items that you think are important.

One has to change with the times; now that LCCs are popping up overseas, the same trends will happen worldwide. To think otherwise is to not understand human nature and perceived value.

Look; even Spririt can win an award: http://ir.spirit.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=884982
It's not a passenger service award, but it'll probably sell a couple of tickets to treehuggers.

But please continue to tell us all more stories about 'bestest airline of the year' awards and how they mean something. To anyone. The only customers who are going to point out any award an airline's won was already predisposed to fly on that airline. It's even less important to the traveling public than lost luggage statistics.

I strongly disagree. I've ridden foreign and domestic carriers. Service levels always depend on the side of the curtain you're on.
Single digit seat - service is great, no matter the airline
Double digit seat - service is comparable, no matter the airline

I find F short haul on most foreign carriers to be an inferior product to short haul F in the US (except express service). Foreign short haul F is comparable to F for domestic express carriers.

If you or your employer aren't willing to pay seven digits for international long haul F, this entire topic is like discussing the merits of a Lamborghini vs a Bugatti. I drive a Porsche Cayman S; that's as exotic as I'm willing to flush money down the toilet. Do you drive a Lamborghini or Bugatti?

I will disagree again. Top notch foreign carriers are far superior. Of course not all foreign airlines are better, but the top foreign carriers are better than the top US carriers. If flying overseas, I will choose the non-US carrier 90% of the time. Sad, but true. BTW, I drive a Ferrari.

So you were able to find employment again? You'd been hunting around, interested in jobs at fracs paying a lot less than Ferrari owner pay.

Fantastic commute actually....! Confirmed business class with that 5 star service you say is just data manipulation...., again you are just plain wrong, the service is not even comparable.

I'm glad that you have a side business just as I do, I've had a construction company for years, just turned 50 and I'm glad to say that I'm flying just because I'm enjoying it.

I hope you don't get too much attitude from the gate agent on your next commute, or don't have to get into a pissing match with your dispatcher to get extra fuel, I hear that it is a constant struggle at UAL.

Take care.

Wow. Massively overcompensating for your shortfalls, eh?

I could care less about airline awards, just like 99.999% of the population. 99.99% of the population hasn't even heard of Skytrax. That you consider this crap important makes more of a statement about you than anything else.

But I concede. AirJapan cargo is the bestest passenger airline ever and deserve to win every freaking airline passenger award ever created. Their PARC contract pilots are the bestest, smarterest, prettiest pilots that have ever been God's gift to aviation. The rest of us scummy pilots should be thankful that PARC's contract AirJapan 767-300ER pilots even communicate with us scumbags.
There - does that sufficiently stroke your ego to compensate for your low self esteem so that when you're on that 10+ hour commute in C class on your way to NRT that you can bask in your Pyrrhic Victory? Fantastic commute ... LOL!

Sorry that you are not the only one who has a side business, didn't mean to hurt your fragile ego....!

But for what it's worth, finally somebody on this site competes against jenny with junior high style responses when they don't have a good argument.

Aside from the occasional good-looking FAs, foreign air carriers offer little. The funny thing is, it's always the guy who thinks he can bang one of these hotties who (yet has no chance) demands his airline hire younger FAs. The reality is, take away the tight-fitting uniform, buffed out nails and caked-on makeup and most of the "young" FAs are just as common as anyone you see walking on the street. I see it all the time on the layovers throughout Asia. Hot KA, SQ, or 9W FAs check-in, then come down for brekky in their civvies. Some are still hot, but most not so much.

So take out the young and impressionable FAs and what does a corporate travel manger want? Frequency, loyalty points, options, price, and on-time performance.

DL does phenomenal in this area. UA and AA are still struggling. I doubt UA will ever get it together in this regard. Maybe AA will. Congrats to DAL. Sure your FAs are predominantly old as dirt but y'all do a much better job at running an airline than the rest of us.

Again, I could care less what you, the public, or anyone who hands out awards thinks of United. United sucks, just like every other airline. Including the one you're contracted out to fly with. But you're not really flying for an airline; you're hauling containers. Containers don't b!t-= after you land about bumps enroute/no wheelchair at the gate/landing late/landing early (Yes, I've had passengers complain about being at the gate early). Nor do you have FAs onboard your cargoplane that you're so proud of.

FedEx/UPS pilots don't come on these boards and talk crap about passenger service; what exactly is your mental malfunction that you have to waste your time here complaining about cabin service? What rating do the dead fish that you haul give you?

I find it particularly humorous that the entire theme of this thread is about the bestest airline ... something that GL started, but you've been even more passionate about than him. So you share that with GL; you're both mesmerized by airline rankings. I stopped caring about my airline midway two furloughs ago. This is just a time filler until I can talk my wife into FINALLY stop working and start travelling. When that happens I'm history. Perfessunals like you can be the skygawdz that fly me to my destination .. as long as I mail myself in a container (you being a cargo pilot'n such pretending to be a passenger airline pilot). But that won't happen; I'll be paying for the C seat and vying for an upgrade to F ... not a complicated game to play.

I'd go into the side business thing, but I've got a really good idea of what your side business is ... another fix'n flipper. Construction? LOL! If it were successful, you wouldn't waste 10+ hours airborne each way to/from work. As a commuter, I know that your total commute time's at least 20 hours each way.

Bottom line: I don't give a crap about airline awards. That's a passion you share with GL. They don't mean anything and very few buy their tickets based on awards. Most of the people who actually spend 6 figures to fly across the Pacific know the 411 on those awards - they're crap, just like some PARC pilots.

Something tells me that your family is very happy with your current employment situation ... you probably spend at least half your free time commuting. My wife would be very unhappy with that much time away from home.

Jenny you stink! You have no friends on FI, get it, putz?

Your obsession with general lee is disturbing. Do you have friends on FI? Is this your social community? I don't see why people are arguing over whose airline has the best service. WTF?

No way does DAL compare to Singapore, Cathay, Qatar, Emirates, Etihad, etc. To suggest otherwise is idiotic. But who gives a sh@t?

ATLANTA, Dec. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Gentlemen, the above is where you should have stopped reading. PRN is a press release clearinghouse. If the byline is PRN, ignore everything that comes after. It is like the ads in magazines designed to look like content with the little "advertisment" tag somewhere on the page.

GL has again proved himself troll-extrordinaire.

Hi Leboy, at least I showed where I got the article. I'm good like that. You still haven't added ANYTHING to any thread or topic, proving yet again what you are. But, you sure do know a lot about press releasing clearinghouses! So impressive. Great job.

I don't understand why most of you don't use this feature as it's the best feature left of the FlightInfo website. The arrogant pr!ck GL has ruined this forum and will continue to do so as long as everyone lets him.

He will continue to post threads about how great DL is doing and belittle everyone else during a down time for their respective airline. He's the consummate pr!ck and bad apple that every airline inevitably has...

Hey everybody, OState597 is jealous and unhappy with his deal at AA. He also seems to have an affinity for the "P" word, and maybe sings that song "Are you down with OPP?" a lot. The guy is a total goof.

Huh? Not the least bit interested in frac flying. Try to stay on topic. No need to get your panties in a bunch because I disagree with you.

Again, intentional sampling bias. And like Sig said, every airline's number one to someone no one cares about.

Husband: 'wow, that airline's ranking number one by Skytrax, let's fly them'.
Wife: 'Who's Skytrax'?
Husband: 'I don't know, but numbnuts airline was ranked number one'
Wife: 'How much are the tickets on numbnuts compared to cattlecar airlines'?
Husband: 'About $100 extra per person'.
Wife: 'WHAAAA'? (insert dramatic chipmunk) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Y73sPHKxw
'I could use that money to get a massage at our hotel'!
... and so, the wife gets a massage at the hotel and they fly cattlecar airlines.

GL was wrong to post this award crap.
DumbPilot was wrong to make a big deal about airline rankings from yet another stupid company that hands out awards to any airline that pays it to conduct surveys.
Kharma Police was wrong to post award crap about LUV on another thread in response to this thread.

And I'm WAY wrong to post this 2014 Airline of the Year award given to United Airlines: http://ir.unitedcontinentalholdings.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=83680&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1993910

Well done Andy....agreed
