I know there are no certainties in aviation, but wanted to hear some opinions. What does everyone think of accepting a job with Delta in the next couple months versus holding out for a job at FedEx probably two years from now? Assuming the person is in a job they currently enjoy and has good ins at both companies. I have already heard the first one to hire you, is there any other thought process here? I just heard that Fedex will not even interview you if you fly for another major.

Fed ex

Fed Ex hands down for $$/benefits. Second year FO pay is about what some majors are paying captains. Job security I'd also say Fed Ex. Drawbacks more night flying but not completely . Who knows United was the Shi* 6 years ago look where they are now.

Depending on where you are though it would be hard to turn down DL though.

DAL now then you will always have the option of FedEx if offered a job in two years. There is a chance you might not get hired by FedEx. It has happened before. BTW Unlike the good ole days where pilots were leaving FedEx and SWa for the great jobs at AAL, DAL, and UAL

reading some threads online, I would doubt Fedex is hiring in two years, age 65 and all.

Right now Delta will feed your family. FedEx may or may not hire you in two years. Best of luck in your choice.

Take the bird-in-hand (Delta). According to our latest posting, it doesn't look like FedEx will be hiring for a long while, and then there will be plenty of applicants for a few spots. Worst case is you get hired by Delta and then have to decide whether to stay or leave for FedEx in a couple of years.

Not to mention the possible merger with NorthWest. Get on ASAP. It is all about seniority in this business. Take the first job offered. If you have stuff in with FedEx they understand taking another job waiting for them to call.

Ah yes, Total Time -- the least meaningful statistic in major airline hiring.

Not really a statistic but more of a yardstick for measuring ones relative experience.
