Not really a statistic but more of a yardstick for measuring ones relative experience.

Do you charge extra for the sarcasm?

BTW... DAL is a great place to camp out waiting for FDX. Or you could go to Flight Express... they're hiring. ;)

Or you could go to DAL.... stay at DAL..... and add 10 years to your life by not working a jacked up schedule for the next 30 years.

Flame away with the furlough or F/O pay speak. But I'd rather work a schedule more conducive to the bodies natural clock vs stuck with "flipping" my body clock every week.

What a retarded thread.

What makes you think you'll walk into FedEx in two years? Do you have the prerequisite 3 internal LOR's from people who have flown with you, one of whom is willing to sponsor you at a meet-and-greet? That's just step one. Step two is getting a meet-and-greet. Step three is getting an interview. Step four is getting a job offer.

Even if you did want FedEx over Delta, you have to play the odds.

Not his fault, man. He hasn't been out of the military that long to understand. It looks like he got out, bought his 737 rating hoping to go to SWA like a lot of guys do, then lucked into the lear job. He probably has contacts at both companies, so figures he's a shoe-in at either one. Probably never heard of:
never pass up a class date
never pass up an upgrade
never pass up a type rating

At least this time he's asked for opinions here, and he'll get lots of them.
In the end it will come down to what we've all discovered, which is that it is always a personal decision for each of us, and that whatever works for some will not for others.
If it were me, I'd take the bird in the hand. Some people have waited all their careers to get a job with DAL. I don't see how it could hurt him.
I wish him luck in whatever he choses.

Doesn't look to me like he's out of the military at all. Probably active duty or a reservist flying C-21s. That gives him (especially if a reservist) a certain amount of flexibility in regards to taking a job now or waiting.

Tedspal -- don't worry about a job with Delta keeping FedEx from looking at you. We've hired plenty of guys from other majors.

In todays' Industry, I probably would not limit myself to only two airlines....Purples' been good to me, I knew what I was jumping into before I filled out the profile/ application. Good luck.....

Jacked up? I flew 342 hours last year a lot of that I picked up. At $900/block-hr for 07 and now here I sit in Paris for three days, who is flying the jacked up schedule?

The guy should do both. Wait until the fall out from mergers and see who life aint worth living.
