I think that there was one today. They will run every other Monday until they decide differently. 35 per class. This is subject to change. The numbers have been trimmed slightly for the 65 ruling.
If they get more 90's then they will add more new hires to the mix

13 NYC ER
1 73N NYC
3 73N LAX
11 88 NYC
3 MD90 SLC
31 total

Those 12 NYC ER FO's may be line holders this Summer. I have also heard we will have 12 more 777s by Jan of 2010--2 years from now. That is a lot of upgrades.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Yes general you are probably correct with the 777. I know that they are crazy rumors, but when the used market starts seeing used 777, expect DAL to be one of the main purchasers. Good for us and whom ever we merge with.

What I wanna know is what was said in indoc so far about mergers, hiring, aircraft, expansion....etc..? Anyone got anything. Also, when is delta suppose to announce 4QT numbers? I haven't been able to find any information on that. Thanks

As stated to the new hire class yesterday.
Plan to hire 450-500 through AUG.
"DAL is in a position to merge if someone else starts the fire." Basically that they have made a deal that if it starts they have a bed partner.
The 625 number has only been reduced for the pilots that will not retire this year. It may go up as soon as the 90 are announced. But either way it will be 30-35 a class until they announce a merger or have hired enough.
IE lots of new faces going new places.

acl65,

where are you pulling this number out of? is this your guess based on what the retirement projections are???

Because we are funded for 625, period. I didn't think hiring had changed.

Flat screens, efb's etc. etc. are all on hold for now.

Thats about we we heard in the class. 2 777 coming one in I think Feb and the other Mar. Then a potential for a few more in addition to the LR's that are coming. Also looking into maybe 2 more from the used market. But if you are right I may stick it out in JFK for the summer and see if I hold a line and if a commute from ATL is worth it. Although I HATE commuting. I'm interested to see how this next AE bid looks like. I'd love to have the opportunity to get back to ATL on the 757/767 or the ER even if I have to sit on reserve for a long time.

Thats what has been said roughly. The numbers change a little bit. but somewhere between 350-500 depending on who came to talk to us. Everyone was very positive about our position moving forward barring Oil taking a significantly sharp rise and/Or a dramatic downturn in the economy. Which is always a possibility.

Roger...didn't quite get the source on acl's post. Quasi-clearer now.

thanks

Airline Pilot Central under Delta up till last week said 625 with 35 every two weeks.. Now it just says 500 and the 35 every two weeks is gone. Who updates Airline Pilot Central? They got the info from somewhere..

N.Y.C rumors.....

1. Airplane painting to stop during the heavy checks.

2. No class in Jan/08 (False obviously)

3. No A/E in the near future.

Take it with a grain of salt. This comes from NYC. Remember we can't even find ATL on the map.

Any Delta guys that could answer this would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently on furlough from Delta (non-pilot) and the choices on airline apps are for active Delta employee and former Delta employee. My status on the recall page in Dlnet is "current employee, inactive." Which of the above do I use?

TIA

Straight from the pilot selection board yesterday. The only thing that will very the rate of hiring is availability of simulators and the rate of return of Mil leave guys/gals.

Not the economy or price of oil? Or merger?

Just curious.

Spoke with a management pilot yesterday. With the age 65 rule now in effect, Delta's plan is to hire ~~400 this year, down from ~~ 600.

Not from what he said. We just announced that we picked up 2 more of the American (former TWA) 757's. These are eventually going to fly international which requires more crews. So basically we are just trying to fill seats in aircraft that are already slated for arrival in 08. (We also really don't have any retirements here at Delta since most of our old guys took the money and ran) So hiring is for growth only.

I'm using the hiring selection board as an indicator of when a merger may be announced. If something comes out of pilot selection like "We are going to have a hold on hiring for a couple of months to catch up on ......(insert excuse here)" Then I'm going to be watching the financial sections more closely.

so even though we were only going to retire about 60 pilots this year, the age 65 rule changes the hiring by 200? Hiring may go down by 200 this year due to other factors, but not because of age 65.

Yeah, I was just wondering. The wheels are begining to come of the industry bus, yet the Delta and CO hiring threads still keep on truckin'.

As for mergers, bankruptcies, or CEO bowel movements, we will be the last to know.

Yes, by 200 because part of the equation is also the five year longevity the senior pilots will add to our list.

Of course the 600 to 400 number is from a mid level amnagement bubba and only valid as of yesterday.........

Number 2 is not correct either. Spoke to crew resources yesterday and was told there will be an AE sometime in Feb.

Info on Airline Pilot Central sometimes is outdated and the information there comes from second hand sources from what I understand. I would use that as a gage at best.
