13 NYC ER
1 73N NYC
3 73N LAX
11 88 NYC
3 MD90 SLC
31 total
Those 12 NYC ER FO's may be line holders this Summer. I have also heard we will have 12 more 777s by Jan of 2010--2 years from now. That is a lot of upgrades.
Bye Bye--General Lee
As stated to the new hire class yesterday.
Plan to hire 450-500 through AUG.
"DAL is in a position to merge if someone else starts the fire." Basically that they have made a deal that if it starts they have a bed partner.
The 625 number has only been reduced for the pilots that will not retire this year. It may go up as soon as the 90 are announced. But either way it will be 30-35 a class until they announce a merger or have hired enough.
IE lots of new faces going new places.
Roger...didn't quite get the source on acl's post. Quasi-clearer now.
thanks
Straight from the pilot selection board yesterday. The only thing that will very the rate of hiring is availability of simulators and the rate of return of Mil leave guys/gals.
Not the economy or price of oil? Or merger?
Just curious.
Spoke with a management pilot yesterday. With the age 65 rule now in effect, Delta's plan is to hire ~~400 this year, down from ~~ 600.
Not from what he said. We just announced that we picked up 2 more of the American (former TWA) 757's. These are eventually going to fly international which requires more crews. So basically we are just trying to fill seats in aircraft that are already slated for arrival in 08. (We also really don't have any retirements here at Delta since most of our old guys took the money and ran) So hiring is for growth only.
I'm using the hiring selection board as an indicator of when a merger may be announced. If something comes out of pilot selection like "We are going to have a hold on hiring for a couple of months to catch up on ......(insert excuse here)" Then I'm going to be watching the financial sections more closely.
so even though we were only going to retire about 60 pilots this year, the age 65 rule changes the hiring by 200? Hiring may go down by 200 this year due to other factors, but not because of age 65.
Airline Pilot Central under Delta up till last week said 625 with 35 every two weeks.. Now it just says 500 and the 35 every two weeks is gone. Who updates Airline Pilot Central? They got the info from somewhere..
