Try to get cheap health benefits at 63. Well, at least Delta is painting all of the aircraft..money well spent, who cares about peoples health benefits.

The aircraft are only being painted as it comes time for them to get a new paint job... they are not being pulled off the line just to get sprayed with the big tilted widget. This is why you see 5 or however many different paint schemes out there.

Should'nt be to hard to find out what this tankerclown's real name is. Would'nt mind black-balling this clown

I agree Hardcorr.....it seems he wants that SWA real bad...it would be a real shame if you made it harder for him....can't be too hard to track this monkey around, he brags too much.....let's see, 17 yrs. KC-10 guy....start the puzzle....

He'll hang his ownself in the interview anyway......

Sorry to dissapoint you Lumburgh....but I don't live in base housing. The gub'ment takes pretty good care of me. Never even asked me to give back any money. Pension hasn't been taken away either....or medical for that fact. It's kinda hard to believe that we've been able to do that withouth the help of ALPA. We actually make more now than we did in 2000. It's a pretty radical concept.

I'll tell you when I interview at Delta. I'm going to list my boy Bill at DAL as a reference.

We now see what having too many high CASM rjs running around in the system will do to your bottom line. This is Whitehurst's legacy as he tried to kill jetblue in JFK by adding 100's of rj flights to slow everyone down.
Yea don't worry, he's already gone with his cash (your pay raise), redneck left when he didn't get the CEO job.

Tanker Clown, man how did you manage to score a $25K a year bonus. No one in any unit I have ever been in got a $25K bonus a year? I do understand Base pay plus BAH but even BAH isnt all that high unless you live somewhere with a high cost of living and there are not to many KC-10 units that are located in a high cost of living town, but I could be wrong.. 25K a year bonus.. wow

The continuation bonus was $25K/year to the 20 year point. I took it at the 10 year point so it was a $250 bonus. Check your BAH rates/locations. I do alright.

Hey tanker clown...I don't get it, you bash Delta every chance you get, then in the next sentence you say you want to work for Delta. What gives???

Huh? Most of the RJs that will be parked will be the 37 seaters in CVG, which are truly inefficient. And his cash wouldn't even give our top 100 guys a large pay raise. We will get the mandatory 1.5% a year raise, plus 5% of our W2 for this year as a bonus early next year. Also, I think Anderson was a better choice than Whitehurst, although I did like his style. He was too young and needed a few more years IMO.

Bye Bye--General Lee

It's almost like the General only reversed. Weird.

That is right. I think Southwest is a great company with great pay, great stews, and great management for now. But, I would not want to do multiple leg days with 25 minute turns in one aircraft type for the rest of my life, to places like LBB. Maybe he is my long lost twin?

Bye Bye--General Lee

Tanker Clown....you are looking like a clown....relax....you will not fit in here at SWA always looking for a fight. 17 year point...you may be falling into the Kernal category fast. Relax and quit picking a fight. Go back to the vault if you can't play nice.

That's my worry too General. Delta was a great place to work (6yrs) until the company went into survival mode. All bets were off then. Swa has some tough times ahead. We'll see how Mgt handles themselves when things get really tough.

Hardcorr You left Delta??

Good call man......don't look back....

Everybody predicts SWA "has it coming to them soon", which is a pretty easy statement to make when profits have been flowing for 30 some odd years sort of a king of the hill thing....everytime somebody chimes in that it'll be tough there, your management breaks the code....

I wish we had a management of action (like SWA), rather than one of excuses...(High oil prices, Labor rates, weather in the Northeast, Hassle factor...etc.etc...)

General,

I think "Dancing" Jimmy was too chummy with the employees and really gave a damn what happened to the airline. They handed the keys to Ed "CFO of the Year" Bastian because of his hatchet-man mentality. His performance during our 1113c proceedings were oscar-worthy ("Pilots are overpaid fatcats draining our resources" ).....He shows no remorse and would probably sell his mother off....I think that's why the creditors picked him because he's their lapdog and will roll over or play fetch anytime they ask....

You should have done that on your first interview instead of using the General.....

I talked to an instructor the other day at DL, he says they are going to start typing the 737 guys as new hires and the recurrent guys as they come thru.

Why do so many people around here act so childish? I fly with guys at DL that honestly think they're better airline pilots b/c they flew in the military, i know guys that think they're better pilots b/c they were hired at SWA during their upswing when it was "hard to get in", i know guys that think they're better pilots b/c they faced the challenges of corporate flying....i could go on and on with this. Fact is, show up to work, fly your plane and play well with others. Leave your bad attitudes and ego's at home. You're no better than anyone else no matter where or what you fly for a living.

The actual fact is that most military pilots are NOT good airline pilots at first, primarily because they are not allowed to drop bombs or formation fly at the airlines. The only "bombs" they do drop are the ones in their pants as they approach one of the airline ramps and have no clue who to call or what to say. Sure, it may have been tougher getting shot at over Basra, but a cranky Captain can get you sweating too.

Bye Bye--General Lee

The basic fact of the matter is that when you are hired by an airline you are given a seniority number based on something you have no control over and all your previous experience (military, shuttle astronaut,135 into uncontrolled fields, multiple types, heavy over-water experience, RJ PIC) gains you no advantage over the guy sitting next to you. In effect you have the same skill set and the ex-blue angel is treated the same as the ex-intern.

Some may have an easier time in training, but once we are in class we are effectively identical.

I have found military pilots to be excellent airline pilots. The fighter guys are usually very sharp and pick up airline flying quickly (it's not rocket science after all) and the transport guys are doing the exact same flying. Your generalizations show true ignorance. That cranky captain got you to sweat? Must have been a military pilot who expected more from a top-gun civilian dude.

BTW, nearly 10,000 posts? Thats borders on the wierd

Every military guy i've flown with at DL has been sharp flying the airplane...as they should, they've been at DL for 15+ years. The only thing i've noticed is that some of them have the old school CRM skills, aka...NO CRM SKILLS. Some get in the cockpit and run things like we're on a mission over Nam. I can't help but chuckle a bit to myself in those cases. Overall though, i'm glad the DL is hiring more civilians than ever in their history...it's good to have a mix. I flew a recent trip with a line check guy who has been doing many new hire O.E.'s. He acted surprised that these "civi" guys are doing so well....geez i wonder why?!! B/C they've been doing this very airline job for years already!!! This stuff ain't hard for someone that's been doing it before. At DL, it's just a change from the former new hire F-18 etc...pilot that shows up not knowing anything but how to fly an F-18 in the Navy.

I'm off the subject, but i hope that DL keeps doing well and hiring....now we just need a payraise.

Thanks, I have to respond to guys like you and it just increases. Anyway, if you notice again in my post, I said "at first." Ever wonder why we increased the amount of IOE time and now have them go through a 3 day trip on the jumpseat before IOE? To help them out. That's ok, everyone has to start somewhere, but you must have been perfect from the start. Good for you CHUCK YEAGER. Bye now, and quit being cranky yourself you tool. My jab was all in good fun, but you stopped that right quick!

From those in the know.....they are typing crews so they can heavy crew the -700's (extra pilot and a rest period) and complete 1 day turns to South America. It'll go senior beacuse of the large credit time....8 of those a month and you are done!!!

As for the rest of your statement....you are spot on....sign in for your trip, sign out....enjoy life!!

Seems to me, you will have your 1 %er's no matter where you go....airline, military, corporate, etc. See them for who they are, and just have fun with the other 99%.
